Insider not checking for updates

Insider not checking for ANY updates

I'm still on 14959 even though I'm set for fast updates.

However, when I click to check for updates, within 1 second it comes back with "your device is up to date. last checked today at time".

Nothing is blocked (Windows firewall is set to default).

I have just (last Sunday) upgraded the hardware (Motherboard/CPU/Memory) but it shows as activated with a digital license linked to my Microsoft account.

This is a dual boot system with Win 10 Pro and the insider version (separate SSD drives). The Win 10 Pro is OK and gets updates.

Update. I found an ISO for 14965 and installed it. However, the checking for updates is doing the same thing,

I did another "clean" (UEFI) install of 14965 but it still does the same thing when checking for updates - I click to check and within 1 to 2 second it returns with device is up to date.

The updates (I assume) work as Update History shows 6 drivers installed

I'm guessing it's because of this:
    https://www.thurrott.com/windows/win...transition-uup
Microsoft quietly revealed last night that it is pausing the delivery of Windows 10 Insider Preview builds for PCs so that it can transition to the new Unified Update Platform delivery system.

“We are getting ready to start releasing PC builds to Insiders using UUP,” a short update from Microsoft’s Dona Sarkar reads. “To prepare for this, we are going to pause all PC builds for both the Fast and Slow rings starting [last night, Friday December 2]. We will begin flighting the latest builds via UUP starting with our internal rings first then to Insiders based on each ring’s promotion criteria. We’re excited to be able to release builds for PC to Insiders using UUP.”

Thanks for the info. That would explain why no Insider updates. However, I'm not getting ANY updates. I should be getting, at a minimum, Windows defender updates and its not getting those either.

    I don't know then.

For Defender, you used to be able to open up Defender itself and click Update - assuming that functionality is still there in the latest Insider version, you may be able to try that? I've had that workaround 'free up' other updates before now too.

As others on here are reporting getting the insider updates, I don't think what you posted is valid or applicable for all. However, resetting/enabling Defender seems to have fixed the checking for updates. It does not immediately stop the search and tell me I'm up to date. It takes a while to search for updates. As I did a new install and had to change from slow to fast (for the new versions) it will take a while for the "fast" to become effective. Thus I'm marking this solved even though it isn't.

Just a follow up that it has been finally resolved. I got an ISO of a later version and did a clean install of that. Shortly afterward the latest version 14986 appeared. I'm now up to the current version and other updates are now appearing.

14965 is the latest Insider Preview available as ISO download from Microsoft.

I had installed 14965, clean install, 3 times and it would never get ANY updates. A user on the forum gave me access to a later ISO and I downloaded and installed that. It worked properly and within 30 minutes the latest version showed ready to install.
