Windows 10 Insider Preview 14986 (rs_prerelease) - Error 0x80242006

Getting the following error when trying to update to the latest release 14886:

Windows 10 Insider Preview 14986 (rs_prerelease) - Error 0x80242006

All updates prior to this release worked fine.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Right click on an empty space on the desktop and select "New" > Text Document and open it.

Select the following code and paste it into the open file:

Code:

net stop wuauserv
CD %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
Ren Download Download.old
net start wuauserv

In Notepad's menu select File > "Save as" *.* and name it Rename.bat.
Right click it and select "Run as Administator" and let it run.

Relaunch Windows Update.

fdegrove - I ran the suggested bat file and the same error code was displayed when trying to update.

I then renamed the c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution folder to OLD, rebooted and tried the update again.
This time I got error 0x80240031.

Next, I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter, rebooted, and checked for updates.
This time it found the update, downloaded, and installed.

Now at release 14986.

I applied the options you specify, respectively, but the results are still negative. I guess it has a different problem.
