I use some software where the developer uses MAC addresses to control how many licenses are issued to an account; you get 3 unless you pay for more. I have always suspected that Microsoft does the same.
I have a few laptops where I upgraded the wifi card after Win10 was installed. If you log into your Microsoft account on that machine, they will remap your old MAC to the new MAC. How long this takes to migrate through all their network servers is unknown. I am recognized as an insider on all these laptops, but all are on AU version. You can sign in to your MS account to see what machines are registered; they don't show the MAC, just the network name & serial number. You can delete & add them to your account.

Select manage my account---devices
BTW, I see they've dropped most of mine from the list. Will have to go into each machine & add it again. Only see the 2 that are on right now.

The MAC address (also known as the physical address) is your computer's unique hardware number. When you're connected to the Internet from your computer (or the "host"), a correspondence table relates your IP address to your computer's physical (MAC) address on the LAN.
A MAC address is a unique identifier for network interfaces. It is a 48-bit number (12 hexadecimal characters). They can either be written in either of these formats:
- MM:MM:MM:SS:SS:SS
- MM-MM-MM-SS-SS-SS
How to find the MAC address
How to find the MAC address in Windows
- Go to the DOS prompt
- Click on Start button, select Run
- Type cmd and press ENTER
- In the DOS prompt, type ipconfig /all and press ENTER
You should see the MAC address in this format 00:00:00:00:00:00

UPDATE #1
Unable to add devices.
Had to log into account, verify account, Devices, see all, check for others. Doesn't list the one I'm on now!!!
Might have to try this:
windows device not showing in microsoft account - Microsoft Community
UPDATE #2
1. Trying to do this from a machine that's listed while an unlisted one is on.
2. On the 1st attempt, "We didn't find any other devices.."
3. On the 2nd attempt, get this message:
Sorry, you may have some devices we can’t list right now. Try back later.
4. On the 3rd attempt, "We didn't find any other devices.."
Looks like it's a Microsoft issue.
