Just a question: did you take advantage of the free Upgrade when it was offered between July 29, 2015 and July 29, 2016? If so you may still have a digital license on Microsoft's server but it may require a clean install of Build 14393 to clear things up. If you didn't do the free Upgrade you'll need to buy a copy/license.

The first released version was Upgraded in Nov. '15, Version 1511 then the next Upgrade is Version 1607, now on Build 14393.351.

Unfortunately, since the Insider Preview is a "more advanced" version of Win10 as noted by the larger Build numbers, that may be the only way to truly get away from it. I was more 'fortunate' when I started some time back with the Technical Preview to have extra hardware on hand to install on separate equipment from my main computer [rehabbed some computers instead of junking them].

An issue with just stopping the builds is the expiration date shown when using Windows key + R and typing winver, probably would have to do something before that date or it would stop working. Mine is currently set to expire on 5/1/2017, probably will change at the next Build.

If he has a legal activation key, it shouldn't matter whether he run Insider builds or RTM builds.

Is your current insider build activated? Do you have an activation key or a Digital License?
