This is ridiculous that MS can't fix a simple start button that worked in past systems. We should not have to go through all these fixes for a start button. Makes you wonder how really secure we are with this operating system where MS can't even fix a simple start button.
MS, please get it together and fix this ridiculous problem!
Huh?? But these issues have been cleared up by now. The current build is 10240 and not 10130.

Apparently this issue is not fixed. I have two different computers that work fine, so it isn't the computer either. I even reinstalled WIN 10 on both when this problem occurred and both times after a while it just stopped working. So now I am not sure if I should do anything and just wait for the next update.

If your having an issue why not start a thread and get help?? That would be far more productive, IMO..

Are you installing Build 10130 or 10240?

If you're trying to install Build 10130, it was released on or about May 29, some three and a half months ago. There have been several builds since then.

Build 10240 was released on July 29, and is the General Availability/Release to Manufacturing or if you will, the final version. It's meant to be your everyday Windows 10.

Those who remained on the Insider Program or have joined the Insiders Program since Windows 10 Build 10240 was released have received two more builds; Build 10525 and Build 10532.

With the above information, it's rather useless to try to install Build 10130, since it has been superseded by at least seven builds since it was released. Further, if I'm not mistaken, it should expire very soon now. I'm thinking sometime in October, but I could be wrong.

If you're looking to continue with the Insider Program, it would be better to go here How to Upgrade to Windows 10 - Microsoft and upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1. At that point, you can choose whether to join or stay in the Insider Program.

I am a little new to this so I am trying to understand the different "builds" you are referring to. I took advantage of the free Win 10 upgrade and put it on my 2 computers within the last three weeks. Currently I am not at my computer right now (using my iPad at work). Maybe you could give me some clarification. I need to upgrade my brain too.

Ok.. when you looked at your desktop did you see a watermark like this??
Windows 10 Build 10130 Start menu does not work-capture.png

Did that appear and did it have 10130 on it rather than 10532??
If it's not there than you using the final build 10240.
