I can no longer open the Start menu in build 10074

    Build 10074

Up til late yesterday evening, Windows was working fine. I week ago I decided to play Elder Scrolls Skyrim and got sucked into the never-ending void of modding the game. At some point the game crashed/Froze my system so I had to manually power off/on my PC. Some of the apps I use for the game became unusable so after a few hours I decided to do a system Refresh. I reinstalled my app and everything was working again until later in the day.

This is were the actual steps of my issue are a little vague.
I was pressing the Windows key repeatedly to open the Start menu. At one point I clicked on a pinned app called Turbo Boost from IOBit (part of ASC, Advanced System Care) and that's when (I think) the Windows key stopped working. When I tried to click on the Start icon, nothing happened. I tried logging out & rebooting to no avail. In ASC, I had Turbo Boost running so I turned it if off.

I can't think of anything else to do to get my Start menu back, any suggestions?

sickmetal. My advice is to do a clean install. Then do not put Advanced System Care on the fresh install.

Same issue here, I kept getting "licencemanger.exe runtime error" and now, after the latest security update, I have no start menu or search. no modern app will run, giving me a msg that I need to get it from the store, but when I click the link I get an error message suggesting I reinstall the store app. Something's clearly messed up somewhere, so hopefully will be fixed soon.
I'm using a 3rd party start menu, for the time being.

Sometimes. running wsreset helps. Also restarting Cortana.

On my first (clean) install of 10074, there were various problems.
So I did what I've done before as with Windows 8 beta testing, I reformatted that partition and did another Clean Install of 10074 and this time it worked OK.

    Cheers mates!
