    Join insder?

I've been using Win 10 since the beginning and at some point I reinstalled and never rejoined insider. Now with the Anniversary update I had to manually install with a DVD because I had version 1511 and I was getting no Anniversery updates..
Would being an insider prevent future updates like the Anniversary update from happening? i.e. no updates because of the Windows version.

No, being a Insider won't stop you from getting the latest updates.

No what I meant was I think I should rejoin insider so I i always get updates no mater what the version. I wasn't getting Anniversary updates at version 1511.

You'll always get the updates even if you don't rejoin the Insider Program. The Insiders will receive them first and GA will receive the them after they have been tested.
