Here's what I suggest for anyone playing with Win10.

Run Win10 in a Virtual Machine (VM) - Hyper-V is native in Win8.1, or as a dual boot.

Dual boot provides more of a real world test since the HW is not emulated as it is in a VM, but the choice is up to the individual member.

    Where does that leave you?
You can download Win8.1 install media and reinstall your base OS.
Carve out some Disk space for your Win10 testing (30GB is fine for testing, unless you plan on keeping previous Win10 builds ... but that doesn't make any sense).
-> Do not format the space, leave it unalloated.
Install Win10 to the unallocated space - it does all of the work, creates the BCD entry for the dual boot and all of the other stuff.

See: OPTION ONE in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 ISO - Download or Create
See: Windows 10 - Dual Boot with Windows 7 or Windows 8 - Windows 10 Forums

Pay attention to the Note, Information and Warning boxes - people skip over them for some reason, but they are very important.

Read the tuts and ask any questions - it's easier if you ask first ... it might take a while for a member to respond, but that beats having to start over 3 or 4 time
