    Windows 10 Home Insider Preview

If you would like to test the "Core" version...

Replace the pid.txt with an ei.cfg file. You can then select Home edition at setup - during setup it will prompt for a key but you have the option to skip, it will activate automatically with this key after completion: BD8NM-JGY2P-8JJYD-WTYKR-HQRJM.

    ei.cfg:
    Code:
    [EditionID]

    [Channel]
    Retail
    [VL]
    0
NB: this only applies to the official ISO (not ESD's)

If going the ESD upgrade route, upgrading a Seven Home Premium or less or the basic Windows 8, you get Windows 10 Home.

Thanx Kari, seems there are ESD's for single language (not sure about Bing edition) as well through WU - looks like we may be using those to create ISO's in future - should those editions not be available as ISO's.

BTW, my post was ill worded: the same upgrade result (Windows 10 Home instead of Pro) can be achieved simply by using a Windows 10 ProTechinical / Insider Preview ISO and in-place upgrading with it, if the underlying OS is 7 HP or less or 8 / 8.1 basic (core) edition. I was a bit surprised to find out that in these case you really do not get 10 Pro without "Adding Features" from control panel using the normal Pro key.

Just found this thread as I was interested in running Win 10 Home in a VM to see what it's like.

Do I take it I need to wait for the next ISO to be released and I can't do it with ESD to ISO?

    Thanks
