    Windows 10TP build 10074 impressions..

    So far..
    1. Running it as my primary and I did an update over Win8.1. That process went just fine.
2 The start menu is working fine and looks good. Much more stable than previous builds.
3 Spartan is ok.. still not working perfect for posting to this forum.
4 This build is stable and snappy.
5 I got this update this morning: Update for Windows Technical Preview for x64-based systems (KB3061161)

So far. I'm happy with this build and I can't wait for the next one.

I'm happy with this build. I still have a few minor problems that haven't been fixed yet. I still can't get Cortana to activate by voice command. I don't see me talking to my desktop so this isn't really a problem. It's still to early to judge Spartan (Edge). I did a upgrade to 10074 from within Windows and not a clean install and it upgraded without any problems..

I need to get some DVD's Friday and I might do a clean instillation on Saturday/Friday. Honestly, I don't expect any improvements but it would be good to try that out. IMO...

All part of testing and that why we're using Win 10. :) Just curious, Why do you call it instillation instead of installation?

I like the new build. Cortana responds to my voice and Spartan/edge works better.

No reason.. just a word choice.

I thought maybe I was missing something. :) @Dude, For me Cortana is like my wife. She only hears what she wants to hear.

I am extremely happy with 10074 apart one issue bugging me since Build 9879.

I am avid Sysprep and image customization fan. Up to Build 9860 Sysprep worked as it has worked since Vista, you could do amazing things with your answer file before capturing the install image. In Build 9879 Sysprep was really buggy, I could only Sysprep Enterprise images, no way to sysprep Pro, and even the Enterprise needed quite a tricks before you could run Sysprep without "fatal errors".

The first 10K build, the 10041 brought Sysprep back, works like a charm, but one of the key elements, a component called CopyProfile does not work and has not been working since. If CopyProfile is set to be TRUE meaning the desktop and theme modifications done in Audit Mode will be copied to Windows Default User Profile, the Sysprep itself does not fail but the first OOBE boot after that ends up in an endless reboot loop, installation cannot be finalized.

For me personally this is a big issue and I just hope that the next build would solve this issue.

Only issues I've had with this build so far is Cortana doesn't speak at all and occasionally the start menu either won't respond to the button being pushed, or will get stuck open forcing a reboot to fix it. I did a clean install this morning and both of those issues still exist.

I also chose to install Build 10074 over a copy of my W8.1 Pro installation, rather than update from a previous W10 Build. I wanted to see how well all my old programs worked after the upgrade and so far everything is working great! The only problem, if you can call it that, was when I created a system image using Macrium Reflect. Normally with W8.1 it takes about 2 minutes, but with W10 it took 6 minutes. And the size on the disk for both W8.1 and 10 is about the same at around 19 Gbs. I suspect however that when W10 goes main stream Macrium will put out an updated version that will work better.
