Speaking only for myself, of course, but I have found Win 8.1 to
be one of the most reliable and crash-resistant OSes around. It
is certainly the most reliable version of Windows I've used.

This coming from someone who initially loathed Win 8 but, by
forcing herself to persevere and not give up, came to be very
fond of it, especially in its Win 8.1.1 incarnation. So fond, in
fact, that 8.1 stands a very good chance of being my 'XP'

Y'know, I feel rather sorry for those who swallowed the anti-8
hype and so by-passed or never upgraded to this OS. Because if
what I've seen of 10 so far is any indication, 8.1.1 just may end-
up being the best OS that Microsoft ever produced, and the last
of the 'real' (desktop) versions of Windows.
Wow, my irony meter just asploded. Has it not occurred to you that Windows 10 may follow the same path, with you "loathing it" at first, only to find that in time you find you actually like it?

Very strange, Kari; since I installed Build 10074, those notifications have disappeared.

We just got an update; was it yesterday? Could that have something to do with it?
I rebooted an hour ago, have had two since that. I suspect it in my case now has something to do with my tests with several VPN programs and services I've been doing all the day. My public IP has today jumped from Finland via Sweden, UK, The Netherlands, Spain and Canada to USA and back. Might be that MS sees it as "suspected activity" when I sign in to Windows and various services all around the world in such a short time.

Another good security measure. I give it an A

At last my Hp Dv 5 and DV6 have been working ok with build 10074 after some troubles with the SMB synaptic drivers, and updates, now updates are function normal, my basic needs which is browsing and streaming are ok and this way i'm more optimistic about Win10.

I think there is no reason to get all excited about the shortcoming of this build or another one. These are Beta versions and apparently far from the final. I use the things that do work and do not worry about the things that do not work assuming that they will get fixed eventually. I only document and report the bugs but do not try to find workarounds.

What worries me a bit though is the fact the the developers do not have too much time to get all those bugs out of the way. Nothing would be worse than a buggy RTM - then we would get the Vista effect.

I'm not sure what triggers this message. So far today it has popped up twice and I haven't done anything different. Make that 3 times. It popped up while typing this. I still get the "Don't forget a restart is scheduled" message also.

If I remember correctly. Didn't we use to have an option "Pin To Start List" when we right click on a program or shortcut ? In this build 10074, that option is no longer avavilable.
