I've had today at least 15 times the notification "Click here to enter you latest credentials", then when I click it it takes me to account settings where I can see the Verify link which disappears fast, before I have the possibility to click it. In two weeks I have had 10074 installed I've had it maybe three or four times before today, and now it seems it comes every 40 to 50 minutes?

    I Test For The Adventure

For me, I haven't found what I consider the perfect OS that I would never give up using. I hope I never do either, as the search and trying and testing is just so much fun for me.

I tried out so many Linux distros(truth be said I like Ubuntu with the Unity desktop best) for example not to mention all Windows OS's and various scientific languages in the early 80's. When I've used an OS a while I get bored because everything will work as it should, then it's time to find one in Alpha and play around.

A good example what fun is for me, during the Preview phase, I've been clicking all the links and right clicking everything to see what's there. It's kind of a geeks version of an adventure game(remember Zelda with all the "hidden caves"?).

What I'm find cool about 10 is it does have the best of all worlds, I mean if I want strictly a Windows 7 type or earlier desktop without cloud , I can, if I want a modern style OS sync'd everywhere, I can, and everything in between. One just needs to take the time go through the settings, set it up, then leave them alone and only update from then on.

I've only had that sometimes after a boot and jut got on line and wanted to use a UA(Universal App).

I'd say, "if anyone tweaks the OS and they don't have a working backup of some sort, then maybe that person really shouldn't be tweaking the OS to begin with."
I agree with this statement completely.

I guess the crux of my point is that I don't tweak the OS and I find that after instillation it just works.
According to what you call tweaks, Jeff. I do the following almost immediately:

o Set up Quick Launch Toolbar
o Disable that horrible Search Bar (which is finally gone on Start!)
o A few other minor things

    Would that be called tweaking?

When I refer to tweaks I think of changes that are made to the registry. Not what you're talking about.

Speaking only for myself, of course, but I have found Win 8.1 to
be one of the most reliable and crash-resistant OSes around. It
is certainly the most reliable version of Windows I've used.

This coming from someone who initially loathed Win 8 but, by
forcing herself to persevere and not give up, came to be very
fond of it, especially in its Win 8.1.1 incarnation. So fond, in
fact, that 8.1 stands a very good chance of being my 'XP'

    Wenda.
I got my first taste of Windows 8 with the public preview. Like you, I hated the blasted thing; couldn't even figure out how to shut the computer down! Again, like you, Wenda, I decided to give it a real try. It got to be OK, but I was afraid of Windows 8.1. :)

Fast forward to a friend whom I helped buy a new computer, which had Windows 8 on it. She took to it like a duck to water, so how was I, her personal guru, going to let it whup me . . . Together, we upgraded to Windows 8.1 and the rest is history.

Also, like many, Windows 10 pretty much "just works" for me, and unlike many, I don't have their problems. Color me confused because I cannot figure it out, except that it must be a difference in hardware.

Very strange, Kari; since I installed Build 10074, those notifications have disappeared.

We just got an update; was it yesterday? Could that have something to do with it?

First, Cliff, I don't use any of the third party Start menus, since none of them are any better (or worse) than what Microsoft has provided. Yeh, I adapt.

Having said that, what I would dearly love to have is Windows 7 with the speed of Windows 10! That is my ideal world.

Probably driver compatibility issues. I've tested upgrading, which keeps drivers vs clean install, then install drivers. The latter was just BSOD after BSOD until I decided that 10's default drivers were good enough, except, of course the graphics driver. Carrying the drivers over from the prior OS worked too but not as well as 10's default.
