Well, this build is the best so far.. just stable and fast. Can't beat that combination..

Kari; a question on10074. I am having problems with Defender and Macrium. Schedule Task Save Errors.
Seems I need to add an Exclusion. Any Ideas? quit working about 10056.
I sure enjoy you tutorials!! the one on BSOD never had one and then about an hour later I got to view it again for tips.

I am extremely happy with 10074 apart one issue bugging me since Build 9879.

I am avid Sysprep and image customization fan. Up to Build 9860 Sysprep worked as it has worked since Vista, you could do amazing things with your answer file before capturing the install image. In Build 9879 Sysprep was really buggy, I could only Sysprep Enterprise images, no way to sysprep Pro, and even the Enterprise needed quite a tricks before you could run Sysprep without "fatal errors".

The first 10K build, the 10041 brought Sysprep back, works like a charm, but one of the key elements, a component called CopyProfile does not work and has not been working since. If CopyProfile is set to be TRUE meaning the desktop and theme modifications done in Audit Mode will be copied to Windows Default User Profile, the Sysprep itself does not fail but the first OOBE boot after that ends up in an endless reboot loop, installation cannot be finalized.

For me personally this is a big issue and I just hope that the next build would solve this issue.

What's good about it. They made more of a mess. E.g. to get to Themes, you have to make a big detour now and toggling the 8.1 start screen does not work any more either. They also did not keep the settings in my apps - e.g. location in Weather.

The power button is still in the way of All Apps. I wish they'd move it back to the top right corner.

The upgrade was a real adventure. I think it took 12 trials during 2 days before it worked. And they also seem to require a reboot for even small updates. That's no progress. But after all it's only a Beta. So there is hope.

You have to realize that many of these problems are likely due to repeated upgrades of beta builds, and would not apply to users upgrading from an RTM 7 or 8.x. Beta users have to expect that any of their settings might be lost at any time or that they might have to reinstall clean at any time (or at most do an upgrade from a non-beta 7 or 8.x).

I agree about the power button, but they moved it there because of users requests, they're not moving it back because of other users requests.

Honestly, I have no idea. I think you could get help from our resident Macrium guru @whs. Start a new thread describing your issue as clearly and completely as possible and yell Whs to rescue (read: tag him in your post).

I'm trying to understand what you are saying Wolfgang, are you talking about what I put in the red box in this pic? If so, how is it in the way?

That is weird, I have none of these issues and I did an update from 1061 through windows update with zero problems. The power menu item is right above All apps item and doesn't interfere. I can switch between the start menu and screen (if that is what you mean) with no issues.

That is weird about themes. Obviously they have overlooked this - at least one too many clicks to get there. Same with weather - I think they are expecting you to use location services. - I can't even find where I can manually set the location for the weather forecast. These two things will be fixed, I am sure - they are just a couple of annoyances.

I think he's talking precisely about that. Wolfgang and I have some fundamental differences in our opinion about the modern Windows user interface and its intended way to be used with an MS Account, but in this matter I totally agree with him.

In my case, every single time I need to open the All Apps view I first click the Power Options link. In my opinion it is in a wrong place, it should be at top right as it was in previous builds.

That's exactly what I said would happen when they first moved it.... lol... and everyone argued that it wouldn't be a problem
