Thanks guys. I got Windows.old down to 806KB. I can live with that.
Thanks guys. I got Windows.old down to 806KB. I can live with that.
I used Clean up System Files and then went back and deleted Windows.old from the bar. There was only a few hundred kb left in the folder after Clean Up.............. why it didn't delete them all I don't know, but one click from the bar finished the job in a second or two. Lots weird with this build!
I never said I was running it. At least not on a full-time basis. My reason for this is because of all the bugs. But i'm not going to do a clean install untill it's all said and done. I go in and do the updates and have a look see.
There are multiple ways of running W10 as you are Aware of my learned friend.
I have several computers. Go from there. Or you can dual boot.
Well I don't know what happened, but something seemed to be changed in the BIOS - it wouldn't boot into Windows, but neither would it boot from a Windows PE, and Windows Setup complained of missing drivers. In the end I reset the BIOS to defaults and then could clean install. No idea if Build 10061 caused it, or some unrelated hardware problem (but it was did stop working at the time I installed 10061...)
Anyhow, now I've got it going it seems to be happier and I don't get the Realtek driver problem I was having before.
I do get a strange error I'd not seen before where, when using a standard (Microsoft) account, I get a series of UAC windows asking if I want to let Setup make changes to the computer. It pops up maybe 6 or 7 times in succession. I'd not asked it to do anything - eg. I got this while I was watching a video or listening to Media Player. I've voted for this in the Feedback app as it seems I'm not the only one.
And Spartan just doesn't work most of the time - I click it to start and it gives me a blue window (with no webpage) or it crashes out.
The Excel Preview app doesn't work either.
It took awhile to download then install on my Desktop [Dell Inspiron 530S from early Vista days] but was much quicker when installed from the DVD on a 4-5 year old Toshiba Notebook. Both installs are working fine so far.
When I started the IE the first time, there was a question whether I wanted to keep IE as default or Spartan. I chose IE.
