It's pretty basic instinct to want something new to work properly right away, but that's not gonna happen here in the midst of development. So, just relax and wait.
+1000 It's too early to really judge how good Win10 will be. But, so far it's headed in the right direction. IMO
    YMMV

BunnyJ: YOU'RE WRONG, BIG TIME. It started out in the right direction and has been in the wrong direction on the last 2 released build's. Mail, People & Calendar haven't worked in the last 2 builds. SLI when enabled in the last 2 builds kills your monitor. The Store Beta has never downloaded and then been able to install any Microsoft pre-installed app's. Yet, instead of releasing fixes for these issues, they instead add new features and don't fix what should've been fixed first. Now there's the news where they're wanting everyone to focus their attention on the 2016 update to Windows 10. Gee, why is that. It's because they're hoping people don't realize how downhill 10 has gone, since 2015 got here. I just uninstalled it and won't be bothering being a Microsoft beta tester.
If they can't fix it, can't put out new versions of WMC & WMP, they can keep their free so-called upgrade. I'll be switching to free Linux, just like Steam has.

    Hi

It does seem to be going downhill at the moment, but I assume that they will get it sorted by the time it goes live.

Right now a lot of things that worked in earlier versions don't work in 10049.

Cortana won't talk, Spartan (which is new in this version) doesn't work on my computer.

I just found a place to tell it not to update my hardware drivers after today's update that borked my sound again.

I'm hoping that it will stop it, only time will tell.

But I'm optimistic that things will start getting better soon if they ever plan on releasing Windows 10 to the public.

Anyway beta testing any operating system is supposed to be an adventure.

I do think that there are more issues running in a virtual machine then when doing an actual install.
I haven't had any crashes as such with blue screens etc, just the occasional instance when something would close unexpectedly, or like Spartan which seems to be dysfunctional.

I'm happy to say that the only software that doesn't run will in Windows 10, is the software from Microsoft.
Everything else runs great, and I have all of my graphic arts software, video editing software, 3D creation and editing software, sound and voice creation software and a whole bunch of games.

It's really only Windows and it's apps that are giving me fits.

I'm really now starting to dislike Windows 10 and truly haven't seen a good enough reason to warrant a upgrade from Windows 8.1 Pro w/Media Center x64 to Windows 10 Pro.
I have downloaded Window 10 as my main desktop OS because an upgrade to Windows 8.1 broke my computer and cost a whole lot to have it repaired and ever since then it did not work well continually freezing, but no serious problem with Windows 10 build 10049. The problems with Windows 8.1 seem to have been left behind. I suppose it is a "horses for courses" situation!

I'm sorry you're having all of these issue.. but I'm not having anything kill my monitor, the beta store works..but that's my experience.

And if you want to switch to Linux then do so if you think it's a better option for you in the long run. For me it's not and never will be.

I think Windows 10 is very stable for a Technical Preview. I've had a few problems with earlier releases that caused me to go back to Win 8 as my daily OS. Now that they have been fixed Windows 10 is my daily OS. Spartan and Cortana are far from being ready. That's not really a problem for me because I doubt I'll be using them anyway. From what I've seen so far I'll definitely be upgrading my Windows 8 computers to Windows 10.

This thread has been hijacked by some people who have a different idea of what MS intended the Insider Program for
and I for one am not going to watch the battle continue.
I have had only one sensible post which gave me a clue as to how to restart a borked VirtualMachine.
The problem is still there and I will be pursuing alternatives suggested by more sensible people in another forum.

FWIW, I found that using VMWare with Win10 works rather well. But that's my experience.. YMMV.
Good luck getting things sorted out
