Took more than 6 hours to get to the Logon page. Sadly 10049 did not carry over the sound card (Asus DG) drivers and control center. I also discovered that only the generic Windows video drivers are installed; loaded CCC for the Radeon HD5450 and all is good with that. Another thing cropped up in that once started Windows 10 needed to have an AntiVirus pgm selected. I use Avast and Windows Defender and had to go into System Maintenance to get them turned on.
It can be safely said that what I have installed thus far works perfectly. I use Media Monkey for audio and need to get that set as the default for MP3 files. Windows sounds are not working for logon and logoff. They did not appear on the list in 10041 either.
The 320 Gig IDE HDD is currently being defragmented but otherwise looks fine. It is nice to have Windows 10 find and install all of the other drivers automatically for the motherboard.
Meanwhile a new HDD is on its way and the process will be repeated. Total install time will still be closer to 8 hours overall.

JC, no guarantees but if you don't have the sound drivers installed yet, try going to Asus and telling it you are running Windows 8.1 and then download only the driver for your sound card, store it into a folder and then install from there. It worked doing it that way for me on my HP laptop.

Thanks for the tip. I have the Uni Driver package stored in the "Downloads" folder and on a flash drive with the Radeon Video package. Both installed perfectly. I might add that the drivers in both cases are Windows 7 compatible to begin with.

Well I've finally wiped my VM that had upgraded from 10041 to 10049, it was insufferably laggy and unresponsive, Spartan and the Feedback app didn't work and it had included all those language packs. I've gone over to my clean install which means reinstalling everything again which is beginning to become a bit of a pain.

Look at it from bright side, you'll have nice clean system and can install all new programs without them jumping all over each other.

Oh it has its benefits, I'm just getting sick of reinstalling Office 2013, Adobe CS3 and others to make sure they work. Still, I'm getting plenty of practice getting W10 set up how I like it so it'll be a breeze when I install the RTM on bare metal.

Yes, to say nothing about clean install being faster than upgrading/updating. Going from 41 to 49, took me many ours but installing 49 from ISO only 20 minutes.
