In principle you are right. You have to first test whether any download you post is clean. But in the case of the 10049 iso link I posted, it was the official Microsoft link. So I can assume it is OK.
No, I'm sorry, WHS, but that's not a Microsoft site. It's a news site dedicated to Microsoft product. I think I'd trust them more than any other site, but still . . . If you will go all the way down to the bottom of the page, you'll see a black bar that gives their disclaimer:

Um, not trying to be a smart ass or anything, but what makes those links official Microsoft links? They link to MEGA? And is Microsoft-News.com an official Microsoft site? I'm doubtful? I'm not trying to stir anything up, just asking?
Blasted Spartan! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! But I'm gonna test it or bust a gut!

Alpha, see my reply to WHS's post. It definitely is not Microsoft and there is a disclaimer that says it's not affiliated with MS.

OK guys. I admit defeat. I hope nobody will have problems - which I think is unlikely.

Well, frickle frackle! I really want to test Spartan, but so far, three times in the past 10 minutes, while I was typing a reply, it jumps off my monitor and dumps everything I've done!

I don't think anyone will have problems with this site either, but what might happen is that we'll get complacent and maybe pick up what we think is a clean ISO from a site that looks legitimate, but isn't.

And . . . drum roll, please . . . with your instructions, I can now create all the ESD to ISO files I want! Thank you again! I really appreciate it.

Y'know, come to think on it, it's faster to create my own ISO than it is to download someone else's, even Microsoft's.

Just put 10049 back on 'clean metal',
and I mean clean, wiped it right down!

I am still trying to find the build 10049 .iso-1.jpg

Put it on the SSD, I've no programs and I uninstalled unwanted apps.

I am still trying to find the build 10049 .iso-2.png

Pretty much 'out of the box' and it's 'flyin'!

EDIT: The install was bloody quick too; under 12 minutes!

So, does the SSD make things faster after bootup? I put one in a laptop and it didn't seem to make all that much difference.

I guess they did what we are doing - converting the ESD to an ISO.

Yeah, someone saw Kari's tut, made an ISO and published it. :)

The ISO I made failed. I had issues. So, I wiped out the SSD, downloaded and installed 10041, downloaded updates, switched to fast ring, upgraded to 10049 and BAM! In just over an hour, done. Created a clean image before messing it up just in case. :)
