I went ahead and checked fast startup then went directly to restart after killing Edge. It worked. Good enough, do it again, don't push it, etc?

Oh good! Try it again! I think, once we get it fixed, it's fixed.

Trying again and one more question. Now when I close the lid and open up later, I can no see my desktop by moving the mouse, I must click the power button. Which change did that and can I change that setting back or not? Not a biggie; only extremely lazy.

Poop. It must be wifi on restart but ok on powering up from being turned off. the reason I say is when restarting the audio and wifi lights go off. Very quickly the "no wifi" orange color light appears followed by the "have wifi" blue color light and eventually the audio "off" light. It doesn't make it past the "wifi off" orange color light". But like I said, works fine from being turned off to being turned on.

I think that has to do with sleep on battery(?) On mine, I click the mouse button or hit the space bar and it brings me to the login screen. But, my lock screen comes right up when I open the lid. Here are my settings.

I appreciate your setting pics. I have back now where a cursor movement. etc will show my desktop. Think I'll give the restart a break for now. I greatly appreciate your taking the time to help.

If anyone's interested in an update regarding the issues I have with the "restart" function, here's a link to an update which shows hope resolving the problem. Scroll down a little bit.

"Two things "shut down" does that restart doesn't:

Shut down removes power from buses. For example, if a piece of hardware crashes, like a WiF adapter, a 'reset'
[restart] may not reset the crashed device as power is not removed from the bus."
Interesting. Exactly why one of the first things I recommend is turning off Fast Startup and doing complete shutdowns/startups and not restarts.

    Thanks for following up!
