Slow ring 14295 already downloaded can I chicken out of upgrading?

I don't want to go onto a time limited upgrade, yet, on this laptop (Compaq PresarioCQ57 with AMD E-300APU, Radeon HD graphics 1.37 GHz) - I currently have too much to do if there are problems with the u/g, although I see no reason for the upgrade not to be fine. I run the 14295 build on another machine for testing, and don't need any of the benefits it may contain here. I shall want to run the next long term upgrade.

It runs 10586.164 x86 Pro without problems, and it has already downloaded the upgrade, and is ready to perform the restart, and each time I defer the restart as far as it allows (currently 06 April, just changed) e.g., yesterday, I'd deferred it to 05 April, and when I looked this morning, after waking up, it had changed the scheduled restart to today, at 19:45!

I have slipped the Insider slider (neat!) down to Release Preview from Slow Ring, and I now have changed to upgrades deferred in settings. WUshowhide.diagcab does not see the upgrade.

Do I now just remove the $Windows.~BT folder, or will it just download again?

This reply is based on my personal experience with the same scenario..............

About a month ago, out of experiment, I had my Win 10 Home RTM switched to Insider Preview for the first time.
Reason ? I wanted a 64-bit Insider Preview build ISO.
I installed the Preview build > made sure it was activated >then I went to Settings > Update & security > Recovery > selected Go back to previous build > clicked the Get Started button..................
I was back to my Win 10 RTM.

    My point ?
Let it install. Then go back to your 10586 afterwards.
Better this way to avoid accidentally messing up a setting or 2 while trying to abort the install.
Takes much longer time, but no pitfalls.

*** Curious : if you don't want the Insider Preview, why did you enable Get Insider Preview builds ? ***

I just wanted to know if anyone has a good solution - time was that you had to elect to restart from the Settings/Updates/Restart, now it seems a little more insistent, and appears on the /power menu as restart and update, even though I have set back the auto restart date to 07/04/2016. I can keep delaying as long as I like.

Slow ring PC builds generally have not been time limited - 10586 shows no watermark and is not a timed evaluation, but 14295 does and is, and I am not willing to commit to this - the goalposts have changed, not the way I want.

I can confound the install quite easily by modifying the install.esd in $Windows.~BT\sources - it's now called not.esd.install, so setup.exe will fail at the first hurdle.
