How do I leave the insiders program, and return to an "official" build

title says it all; just updated to 14291, and even though it appears this build is better than the last 2 "nightmares" for me, I was curious if there was an easy way to roll back to the last "official" release from where I am now.

would prefer not having to do a full wipe of everything, but if I have to, I guess I have to

    thanks for any ideas!

    Hi.
    This should help.
Insider Builds - Start or Stop Receiving in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

See Option #2. It should roll you back to the latest General Release.

The latest general release would be the updated form of the November Threshold 2 Update or 10586.168 first seen as 10586.73 which is available by way of the Media Creation Tool. As for the Tech Bench Program download page that likely now has moved on to one of the latest Insider Preview builds.

Here I was keeping the TH2 running on the main build for 2 1/2 months into February until it got buggy forcing me to turn on the Get insider builds option to allow the latest build at the time to repair install over the TH2! You may want to consider holding off until at least the next build comes along since some are now reporting problems with the 14291. That was not being able to rename files and folders while this latest has the snipping tool and a few other minor annoyances being reported likely from not so good upgrades.

Back as far as the 14267 would be a thought if you are able to stay newer then the TH2. Then you simply follow the guide simrick pointed to.

Have you downloaded directly from the Tech Bench site lately? Otherwise the program there is to considered in flex since before the TH2 update was posted you weren't seeing the 10240 RTM but 10565, 10576, and 10586 Insider Preview builds! In fact several of us were going there before the 10586 build arrived looking for a way to see a "4 in 1" USB Key made up. Solved How to make 4 in 1 installation USB? - Windows 10 Forums

Actually the latest 10586.168 not 10586.73 is what you will find since that wraps up the individual updates that have come out since November into what you would have seen with an SP update. 4.1gb in size at present. It actually wouldn't matter that much anyways since you could still see a clean install performed with the updated media without necessarily being the latest out now.

The last VM is just finishing up with the upgrade to the latest build out which will be examined for any bugs since none of the other VMs or the two desktops seem to be running into the same problems others seem to be having.

And now the last VM seems to be working normally as well.

I have no idea what you are saying.
    All I know is .........................
Download from Tech bench will get me Windows 10 10586 iso files. NOT insider Preview build which is what you were alluding to.

Furthermore, there is no difference between downloading an iso from MCT and Tech Bench except the former contains Install.esd and the latter contains Install.wim.

Can you make your case in shorter and lesser paragraphs ?

I guess you haven't followed the Windows blogs at all since that news has been out now for a good week or so. The TH2 I had here on the main build's host drive was the upgrade from the Insider 10586 build which was still the 10586.73. MS simply added in the individual Windows updates that followed the November general release for the TH2 with a new number tacked onto the end. That's much like how 7 updates had previously been slipstreamed into a 7 iso as well as seeing SP1 integrated to speed up installation time for the older version there.

As for the Tech Bench Program that is a separate MS program completely separated from the general releases. That was seeing Insider builds while people were still going for the 10240 general release before the TH2 arrived. Did you look over the 4 in 1 thread at all? The TH2 being a general update came out as an updated 4 in 1 update for general release not a pet project there. The installer automatically detects which edition of 10 if not the past edition of which version is running and in which 32bit or 64bit flavor of Windows is being run. The OP on the thread itself was looking for a multiple machine type integration for the various differences in upgrade paths.

thanks for your input, folks; fortunately, at this point, the latest insider preview from 2 days ago is working perfectly for me once again, so I will probably stay in the program for the time being.
But I will keep this info, and use it if things go bad again...
