I am back, and boy can I see again. They took out the old lens (20-60 or something like that and replace it with a 20-15). Things are really clear and sharp now. Also colors just pop out at me. . .WOW the wonders of science. . . ain't life great. . .

I remember, some years ago, when I had lense replacement. It was in and out surgery with local anesthetic. The surgeon gave me a pair of dark glasses which he advised I should keep on for the trip home. My wife drove. When I got home, I had to go around the house, turning all the red color down on the TVs. A remarkable experience.

I threw my very heavy prescription glasses away that day, and never wore glasses again for many years. Recently the muscles are getting tired so I am needing them for reading. I'm told even that can be fixed!

    Hi there

waiting for the next new build is rather like the feeling I get when passing an Irish pub with a sign outside saying "Free Beer Tomorrow" !!!.

It will come when it comes -- meanwhile just enjoy the current build as it is and get it 100% tested so the next build can be better still.

I'd like the next build also to roll out more of the Touch stuff now that most of the desktop users issues have been addressed.

    Cheers

There's nothing left to test! It's time to ditch this 'Fisher Price' Build and get on to some real testing! :)

Just out of curiosity, how much feedback have you all submitted?
I've got to be in excess of 500 or so, I hope it hasn't all 'fallen on deaf ears'!
I'm not keeping an accurate count, but I'm sure that I've submitted over 1000 since October. That might sound high, but it's only 10 or 15 a day. Some are bugs many are suggestions based on bugs, and a few are just suggestions. There are 'duplicates' as well - retesting the releases and finding the same bug.

There's plenty to test! One suggestion was for MS to provide a test matrix, either as a new app or as part of the Insider hub tests

    new build?-inhubtests.png

It's ridiculous to test a system without a methodology. Of course things changed so much with 9926 that now is a good time for MS to provide everyone with the same tool. The InHub tests can still direct people to areas MS wants a bit more focus, but a larger scale plan would be welcome. I'm sure (or I hope) they have an internal document in QA. Maybe not - QA never generates revenue and they're the first to be laid off ... I watched the entire QA dept. take a walk, about a week after the memo went out saying "There are no plans to lay off 20% of the work force - people are our most important asset. It's just a rumor." Sales and Marketing were unscathed.

They're listening, but they're trying to punch as much stuff in early. The next build will be just as buggy as 9926 was when it came out.

I'd like to see Hey Cortana be configurable

    Star Trek: Computer!
2001: Hal, open the pod bay doors
    Wallee: Walleeeeeeeee
    iPhone: Siri!

That might be difficult because the catch phrase to alert the service has to be unique enough to distinguish it from normal conversation. Maybe MS could offer a few choices instead of one (no choice).

Since Cortana tells me the mic isn't working I can't play with it. The advice was to configure the mic with more boost - that didn't work, so I told Cortana to get a hearing aid! It didn't hear me

There are plenty of other voice activated things out there cars have it, Dragon speaking has it ... ). Hell, I think plain old voice recognition, circa 1995, worked better that this phone port. At least it heard me, it didn't always figure out what I was saying and the results were often comical.

I think it needs to be more the way people work, than giving commands to a computer. More Sci-fi than geek speak.

Give your computer a name and call your assistant by name.

Harriet, I need you to take dictation. Write a letter to Ozzie Nelson over at Highland Nursing Home.

    Dear Mr. Nelson,

I am writing you today to inform you that my 86 your old mother will be moving to another facility. I need to make transportation arrangements from Highland to Heaven's Gate. Please call me at your earliest convenience (000-123-4567)

    Sincerely,

    A mother's son

Harriet, when you're done proof reading the letter, send it via certified post mail.

    Pipe dreams!
