Get rid of login background completely

If you just want a totally blank (say black background) also without the "grumpy cyclops" or a personal picture, then easy to do now without any registry changes etc.

Create a .png file using pbrush and create a black (or any colour you like) picture (large rectangle filled in with you olour choice)

Select that as the lockscreen background (even if you do not actually show the lockscreen)

Make sure setting is set to show lockscreen on login screen

Select same .png file as above as your picture in accounts, info

Now when you boot you get a totally blank background.

    Hi there
Is there anyway to remove the email address on the login or Lock screen when you use a Ms account for the login

I don't like the idea of leaving a lock screen on with an email address showing - even if you need a password to actually unlock screen / login.

(The Ms account user names for those that don't know are User@email) and it's the @email bit I'd like to hide or get rid of.

    Cheers

You can use a local account of course, and just login to store and apps with MS account.

I do not know any way of removing email address otherwise.

For all the so called security benefits, displaying account in full seems rather poor to me.

Just had a thought - what if you used a totally white background for lockscreen?

    I'll give that a whirl.

Can't, Windows will create a 'dim' copy of the white background.

Yeah - that's exactly what it does. I tried to create a bright version but just does not work.

So - local account seems to be only option.

Go online and create an alias that you wouldn't mind being displayed.

I tried this and it did not work (may have done something wrong though - tbh I did not work to hard to sort it as I usually use a local account instead).

However according to this, you can do a registry edit so you have to enter accou t name as well as password, which might be a pain but better than leaving email adress in full view (if an issue).

    Create an MS Account alias:

Sign in to your MS Account online, go to 'Your Info', then 'Manage your sign-in email or phone number', add a legitimate, (but unimportant), email then make it primary.
Then sign into your PC with that email.

Thanks Edwin - tried that and it worked, Of course you still use show a real email address, but so long as it is just a junk email, I guess that is is ok.

    Thanks for the tip.

    Hi there.

Thanks for the suggestions -- just seems a bit imbecellic to me to leave email addresses open to public view even if you use aliases - would be much better to have a "Lock screen" with just the user ID on it or when enter is pressed a prompt for password or logoff / shutdown.

With all the talk of security this topic AFAIK is barely mentioned anywhere -- I can't really believe this is of zero importance to loads of people. Maybe it is !!.

    Cheers
