    Hi there
This build (on update rather than clean install) never prompted me for a Microsoft ID and kept my local user - even when I was connected to the net all the time -- Nice one - we shouldn't be forced to use an Ms account.

Most laptops have 1368 X 768 resolution - you get a warning : Your resolution is lower than 1280 X 900 so some items might not fit on your screen -- seems to be the case with the start menu I think there's some items on the RIGHT hand side that I don't see.
I think in any case the wretched start menu is TOO BIG - why waste nearly 45% of screen real estate on a laptop for instance - especially with the smaller screens. The previous build had it about the right size.

Drop down menu is in alphabetical layout - nice but I can't see any search facility so if I need EXCEL I can't type EXCEL in the search - I have to scroll down the menu or create a desktop icon or pin it to the taskbar.

The lack of a free entry search is a big mistake --hope that re-appears again. The explore windows (barely visible on my laptop) doesn't do anything when you type text in.

I like the new picture (pre logon screen).

Unity mode when running in a VM is broken again (VMware issues message shown in screenshot).

    Cheers

Play around with Inbound TCP Ports 445 / 139 on the W10 VM firewall. Add also Wins = Yes in the Samba file (I know you don't have to use Wins bit it fixes SAMBA). I'm running CENTOS 7 Host, WKS 11 (player 7) and the new build as a VM.

If you disable the Windows firewall Networking can get hosed up - you need to set a rule to block one of these inbound TCP ports 139 or 445 -- can't remember exactly as I'm not on the machine at the moment --going out to watch some "Footie" today. !! I've posted I think some details about this before in Networking or Virtualisation sections.
I remembered that you experienced weird issues with your network.
I left a message on the thread you mentioned. :)

I haven't been able to try your fix yet, as I'm using W7 at the moment.

    Hi there

I like the new Icons too in file explorer.

Charms are GONE temporarily - at least on desktop version of the build.

I like also the little white line under the icon on the task bar to show active apps.
Really missing lack of Search though -- that could become a show stopper if I have to keep scrolling to find an app - that's what turned me off Windows 8.1 was endless scrolling.

    Cheers

Ok Jimbo, Charms are gone for now, but why?

This should be an improvement, but it isn't...

    Hi there

Charms - well some liked them other didn't - can't say I'm sorry.
However if you have a TOUCH laptop (and it even works on a VM - at least mine does - HP envy touch sleekbook) hit the expand bar (top right of stat menu next to the switch). Tiles will all work via Touch.

What's a bit "Half assed" is that on the Left hand side is that you need to expand say Ms office into the lower single applications with the mouse and then the application will work / start via Touch. at the same time the start menu disappears and you will be in the application on the desktop you started - EXCEL for example. A bit idiotic but it works in a crazy sort of fashion.

Metro apps work in windowed mode (also via Touch) - The app being seen on the desktop while the start menu disappears.

Still missing that SEARCH to directly launch an app though -- that's a HUGE mistake to leave that out -- and also the start menu doesn't seem customiseable in any way at all apart from the right hand side (metro apps - remove / uninstall etc).

It appears to be Non functional in my region - even when it's enabled in taskbar settings. You can't actually key anything in !!!!

    Cheers
