Your security settings need attention to get Insider Preview builds

Got this message under Get Insider Builds, under Settings>Update and Security> Windows update> Advanced options.
Tried "Fix Me" button. Restart changed nothing.
Finally found an answer to this that worked; thought I'd share it here.
The only thing that worked, {and I tried *solution* after *solution*), was to make another user and change the type to administrator. Then click Take Control where Fix Me was before.
Now getting Insider Previews again, from the new user account.
Control of Insider Preview now due to new user's account.

My bad; solution only lasted until I switched back to my original account, then switched back to the new user account.
    Still stuck with original problem.

Twice I had that error something about need to take care of my security.
Clicking at the Fix It button did nothing to help.

First time I had it fixed by going to Settings > Accounts > and on the rights side, there was a blue link that said Verify > I clicked at it and it was fixed. Just like that.
2nd time, on another computer, same error but there was no Verify link to use in Accounts. I ended up reinstalling Windows 10. That fixed the problem
I did not try using the Reset option. I assume that would work too.

Didn't want to reset or reinstall. other solutions didn't work, for me. Read that .Net might be to blame. I had Visual Studio Express, which installs large .Net files. Restored to a time before VSE was added, Problem is solved; getting Insider Builds, now.

New problem: choose between reinstalling VSE or getting Insider Builds! AAACK!

    Thank you for the follow-up.
I never have VSE. Didn't know it would cause the issue.

Evidently, anything that installs any *.Net* files can cause you to lose settings for getting insider builds.
    Bummer.

    Windows 10 x86 14383 Insider Pro and Core 10240

One useful tip when you have successfully set up your insider status, is to open regedit, drill down to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost

and export the key and any subkeys to a .reg file and keep it safe. If your insider settings get mucked up, just double-click the .reg file to merge the contents back into your registry.

Every so often, rename the .reg file to .reg.old, go back and export the key again in case the contents have changed -they do quite regularly- you can check by opening the .reg file in notepad.

Actually, tried that already. It went right back to disabled after any reboot.

    New Fix for this problem

Go to this site and download, then update to latest version if prompted.

    Tweaking.com - Windows Repair 3.7.0 Free Download - FreewareFiles.com - Utilities Category

[Cut and Paste into address bar if necessary]

Follow ALL instructions. I skipped the Chkdsk and SFC options.
Ran in Safe Mode as recommended; took about half an hour that way.

Now have Insider Preview back on!

I am a PRO user of Tweaking and I ran it with all options selected and when it completed I still could not get the
the update working to download the newest 11082 Insider Preview. I had previously stopped the Previews and when I tried to go
back it appeared to be ready to do it after doing some "Security" setting but when I restart I am back to same thing again.
