    Can't upgrade Insider Preview 10525 to TH2 Build 10586

I have Insider Preview 10525 installed on a dual boot system with openSUSE. Windows 10 is activated. However even though I'm on the Fast Ring I haven't gotten any updates or new build for quite awhile. I use WSUS to get security updates.

I downloaded Windows TH2 Build 10568 from the "official" Windows 10 News site (Microsoft - but uses MEGA servers) which posted today.

Windows 10 boots fine but says to install Windows from my installed copy - fair enough.

When I run setup.exe from the DVD I get the helpful message "Something happened" - real informative. After trying several times I get to the license page and skip the updates (this caused the helpful message above. I skipped the product key entry since Windows 10 was installed and activated. Then I get the refallyh bizarre error that the installer cannot determine if I am running Windows 10!

I have almost 97 programs installed and working great so I'm not going to do a clean install. I probably can't return to build 10240 if I use the recovery mode but I'm almost ready to try to revert - if I can - since I have an image created by the AOEMI Backupper program which has restored system backups many times when I or Windows screws up.

Does anybody have any idea how I'll be able to install build 10586 - since apparently the normal Windows 10 update in Settings is not going to work.

I read your post several times and I really can't understand what you're talking about. Good luck.

In other words, you mess with gray market junk, and you get what you deserve.

Regarding the inability to tell whether win 10 is installed, I wonder if it is looking at the SUSE partition??

Not very helpful, but maybe something to eliminate/follow up.

Actually that is quite possible. I've been using a Paragon program that allows Windows access (via a mounted drive) to openSUSE ext4 partitions. I'm been thinking I will uninstall the Paragon program - but the "damage" - if you can call it that is probably done. Hasn't affected SUSE in anyway.

    Thanks!
