So if you go to the view tab, cycle "hidden files" off/on?
I did that only because I could not find $Windows.~BT and Sources folder is inside that.
I did that out of speculation. I didn't even know that was possible.

You should NOT have to do that. Just open the C drive and you should see $Windows.~BT.

Yes, you should do that because that folder is by default hidden.

You could try looking in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download under each folder for a large file without an extension. That would be the encrypted esd that obviously needs to have the .esd extension added - or it may be in a folder under C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DeliveryOptimization - can't recall which off-hand.

How come I always manage to see that even the files, folders and drives were checked hidden ?
    I always have it hidden.

OK, so there is another way.
That does not answer my question of "Show" or " not to Show".

If your question is whether $WINDOWS.~BT shows with files hidden, the answer is no, that directory is hidden when the hidden box is unchecked. Therefore, you want to show hidden files and folders.

    Thank you.
That's what Kari said to me.
My recollection is, I had the "hidden" box checked and yet I still saw $Windows.~BT when I opened C drive.
But then, maybe it was unchecked after all.

It really is hidden by default, for obvious reasons: it contains data which a normal user has no need to see or manipulate. That we need the ESD file is a totally other story.

Clear telltale of its default hidden status is the lighter color of its icon. Hidden folders are shown in lighter yellow:

In any event, this has gone off-topic.

MY original question was " where is my esd file?"
As shown in my 2nd screenshot, Install.esd is NOT inside the Sources folder.

I am reinstalling everything. I will not come back to this thread. You guys have fun with the discussion.
