I wish I had some sort of suggestion, but I haven't experienced this issue. I'm building my ISO as we speak from my install.esd file, which was exactly where it always is, in the sources folder. Good luck sir.

I've not been able to find the ESD file on my computer for the last few new builds.

Annoying because for some reason the new builds never get to my laptop. I have to search for an esd or iso file.
Did you see my 1st screenshot I posted in this thread.
If you open you C: drive, do you see what are shown in my screenshot ?
More importantly, do you see the first one on the list ................ $Windows.~BT ?
If yes, then open it and locate Sources folder > open Sources folder > the items are alphabetically listed > scroll down to locate Install.esd.

In my last build 10576, I could not find $Windows.~BT either until I went to File Explorer Options > View > check the box " Show hidden files, folders and drives > Ok.
Then I opened C drive and $Window.~BT showed up.

Thank you, as it happens I have just found an esd file by searching the Sources directory after the download and preparing for install, but before the computer reboots to do the install. I have made a copy.

No. I have not done so.
Not until I can find my esd and convert it to ISO.
As you can see from my screenshot, even the windows.old is still present.
The latest ISO available from Microsoft is for build 10565 in OPTION THREE below.

After you update to build 10586, you should have the .esd file available to create an ISO for build 10586.

I do have build 10565 ISO kept in my external hard drive. Like I said in my first post, I always have an ISO file and DVD made for each build since build 10240.

To go back to 10565, and then re-update to 10586 is not what I will want to do.
    Thank you for suggesting.
I'll just let it slide. No big deal.

I do the same thing. Each time a new version drops, I make an ISO and keep it on an external HDD and build a DVD to install to other PCs from. I think I have pretty much every build since the 98xx builds. Sorry you're having so much trouble; I don't get it. My install.esd is right where it's supposed to be.

My problem is that I cannot find the Install.esd from Sources folder.
I don't have the Recovery/Image folder. It has been long time since I had the C: /RecoveryImage folder.
I take the blame here, I had not noticed that the reference to RecoveryImage folder was left in the ESD to ISO tutorial; this folder has not been present since early July builds. I am sorry about not editing the tutorial earlier, I did it yesterday and now the tutorial is up to date.

    Is the .esd file hidden?

    No. Not supposed to.
I did find it hidden after I installed 10576. But just that one build. All previous builds have the esd file inside Sources folder.

So if you go to the view tab, cycle "hidden files" off/on?
