Both Home and Pro are in the Insider Program.

Is the Microsoft account being used, and has the MS account been verified either by phone or another email address?

I'm running Windows 10 Home Edition build 10586. I always get new builds with my Home Edition, and they ain't giving away no Pro Editions here in the United States.

    Rocky.

I found out about this a little while ago, perhaps its changed since build 10586. However, I am in South Carolina and I was able to upgrade to Pro for free.

NOTE: You have to be an Insider, and getting new builds, for this to work.

Go to Settings > Update and Security > Activation. There should then be an option saying something like, Go to Store. Click on that, it should open the store and give you the option to upgrade now. If it doesn't, if it says you have to pay $99.99 to upgrade, then MS must have found out about this and has probably stopped it.

Let me know how it goes.

I have actually done that about 20 times in the last 4 or 5 months and it always says $99.99. I just tried it again for laughs and giggles and it is the same.

    Interesting.

Well then. I have absolutely no idea why it's been working for me. I'll ask around and see if it works for anyone else.

By the way, right now I am running build 10586 and I have my system set to receive preview builds and I'm on the fast lane. No difference, it is still $99.99 to upgrade.

I enabled Insider builds and it told me to reboot:

No matter how many times I try rebooting, either normally or by this button, it still asks me to reboot to start getting Insider builds! Any suggestions?
Ran this program and followed instructions. Skipped CHKDSK and SFC options. Did everything else. (Ran "Repairs" in Safe Mode, as suggested) . Took half an hour, now after reboot, getting Insider Builds!

Yes, I'm Rocky Bennett. On some forums I am Rocky Bennett, my full birth given name. On some forums I am just Rocky, and I don't know why. On rock & roll forums I am therockman.
