Actually, most cell phones in the U.S. are backward compatible with older digital technology. The reason not every area has 4g or 3g. I also have an older digital standard cell phone with text & voice that has no other features that works without any issue. You from iceland that might be the difference. I thought you would use analog more in Iceland because of range issues.
Depends on how old, and which digital technology. If you just mean voice, then there was GSM and CDMA as the two largest technologies. Right now, 1st gen GSM (called 2G) is in the process of being shut down and will be completed within the year.

1st gen CDMA is largely unsupported by carriers today.

If you want to talk about Digital Data, then there are several standards, such as GPRS and EDGE, both of which are also in the process of being shut down.
I can't really say one way or another on CDMA cell phones never heard about any digital service ending. I have two verizon phones, One basic with just text & voice. The other one has text, data, voice but it is not a smart phone. As long as my prepaid phone works and is affordable, that all it matters to me. Even if the service is ending they have to keep the towers backwards compatible for their mvno's

Hi, I've been running the preview, as a full install, since when it became available.
Today, I encountered my very first problem, Puce Screen of Death.
This morning I logged on as usual, everything was fine. Checked emails, made an Ebay purchase, browsed some social networks (G+ and FB) etc.
Everything seemed fine, until I tried to close Chrome browser.
That was completely frozen, refused to close, couldn't move off my homepage, the browser was dead.
I tried to open the start menu, and reboot. No start menu.
Eventually, I did a hard shutdown.
Later today I tried to start again. The machine posted, revealing the puce screen of death!
After several hard shutdowns and attempts to boot, I eventually got a choice screen offering refresh, reset, and another option (can't recall what it was).
I chose refresh, this involved numerous reboots, numerous grey screens, but eventually booted into a clean install.
All my data was fine, even the wallpaper remained, none of the programmes I had installed were there, but there was a folder on the desktop, with all my installed programmes in.
I only had Adobe Lightroom, plus utilities, VLC etc installed, so I'm now back where I was.

So, no harm done, the refresh took about 35 minutes. I expected some change, I thought it might be a new build, but it's still 9860.

So no idea what happened there, but everything is fine now.
As I said, this is literally the first problem I have encountered, and I've been running W10 for several weeks.
    Anybody else had this problem?

This may seem like nit-picking to you...
I wish someone would tell me what a "nit" is. I cant seem to locate one anywhere

Nits are very small and difficult to locate. It 's a good thing though that you can't find any

Not to nit pick nit picking but the 2nd definition seems more apripos...

A nit is like a tad or a c--- hair. I think it's old English.

That's because they picked 'em all before you got there. I believe the skill is passed down through the generations. For myself I never could find out what the penny packers pack the pennies into. It can't be coin rolls. The Holy Rollers have that concession. :)

so for when its used in a post on here or any other forum ,"not to nit pick", means not to point out the small things in someone's comment
