I've sent Akeo a message, Halasz. I also sent him a snippet of your post so he could see what I did.

Halasz, can you get a log and post it here for Akeo?
Also, here's something that might be of interest:
List of software and hardware Rufus isn't compatible with
If you're using any of the following, Rufus may not work as expected. In all cases, this is due to the listed software or hardware preventing the level of access required by Rufus to properly set up an USB device, for instance, by preventing operations that are 100% legitimate, such as writing an autorun.inf file or by latching onto an USB drive and preventing the exclusive access that Rufus requires for partitioning and formatting.
Thus, if you want to use Rufus, I would advise using an alternative from the items listed below:
- Defraggler
- Genie Timeline Backup Pro
- Lexar JumpDrive Secure USB device
- Panda USB vaccine
- RealPlayer Cloud
- Trend Micro OfficeScan and some other versions of Trend Anti Virus.
- USB Drive Letter Manager (USBLDM)
Oh! OK, but the two are related in that if the drive can't be safely removed, Rufus won't work. However, you can't get a log. :)
Would you be willing to try using Rufus to create a bootable flash drive so you could get a log for Akeo? This is something that we really need to get to the bottom of.
Log would be nice, but it probably won't tell much than what we already saw with 10547. For the record, Rufus doesn't need to be installed, so you can just download the app, select FreeDOS as the type of bootable drive you want to create, and you should get the formatting error in the log.
As I mentioned in the issue tracker, the only way I see to tell if your issue is indeed due to the Microsoft Insider bug or something else would be to downgrade the machine where you have the issue back to 10240, and see if it still happens. If it does, then it's not the same issue and probably just a rogue app not haveing relinquished access to the USB.
[QUOTE=Wynona;453818]I just got a message from Akeo (Rufus Official Issue Tracker) that Build 10586 has seemingly finally solved the issue of "Device Currently in Use".
Wynona, sorry for the delay...I just tried removing one of my USB 3 thumb drives in Build 10586 and it now allows the extraction without the "Device Currently in Use" message being displayed.
Hi there, I just bought MSi laptop and it is now running the latest Windows 10 Home version. I had problems with ejecting USB drives fro the start. I disabled indexing options on both external drives and in the System settings. It worked for a day but now it is all back to the square one. It's really annoying cos to remove the USB 3 HD I have to suit down the laptop and, also, unplug it from the wall cos if I don't do that the drive is still spinning. Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Cheers
Hi, Lhagon. Welcome to TenForums.
This thread was started back on October 12, 2015, almost ten months ago, and the problem we all had was only with Rufus (which is used to create a bootable ISO on a flash/thumb/jump drive). Once the bootable ISO was created on the flash drive, we were unable to safely remove it; see the attachment in Post #1.
Since your problem doesn’t seem to be connected to Rufus, I would suggest that you create a new thread and then post a link to it here so I can find your new post.
Information you should include:
Indications are that your drives are external, rather than flash drives.
Is the Lenovo new (specs indicate it may be) or used?
Include the Model Number in your system specs so that anyone helping will be able to look it up if need be.
Include a snippet of any message you get about being unable to safely remove the drives.
Try to be as clear and concise as you can, using paragraphs to separate different thoughts.
Once I get the link to your new thread, I will send a guru or two over to try to help you.
