What did you do last night? Upgrading 10240 to 10240?
And was there a DVD of Win 8.1 in the box when you got the Computer?

just ran winver and it says I have now 10240... so it seems that yesterday I updagraded 10240 to 10240... don't ask me the phylosophical reason for upgrading something into the equal but it may have helped

This is not a good news but the product key is glued on the laptop. Problems that you encounter are the result of the upgrade. The premise to a successful upgrade is that the base Win 8.1 in your case must be in good condition so that the new release gives better results then the last. It's not your case Oliver. Instead you fight against it and waste precious time and energy.

I'll give you 2 solutions now:

You clean install 10240 but you will loose Win 8.1 (the backbone won't be there no more and it's far from being a bad news):
Download Windows 10 RTM Build 10240 ISO - Microsoft News

Or you go backward (Win Ten Settings) to day one with Win 8.1. Update the BIOS and redo the upgrade using the same ISO file that you download above. Clean install give better results. Think about it for a while. If your able to play in Regedit you can also clean install and update the BIOS.

    All the best.

Can you please a bit better the second solution
In the meantime: is my computer eligible for win 10? In case of negative answer, is it going to be whenever Toshiba does it? (is there a way if they plan to do it?)
Moreover, will w10 have a service pack, or whatever it may be called, to upgrade to improve its functions
Since right now I see kinda solve the blury issue I don't see a real reason to go backwards to w 8.1 My way of looking at these things it does if you have that for free (as it was w10) it does not make sense to go back to previous versions, hoping that real problems due to new versions are patiently solved. That's my philosophy regarding computers. So for that reason going back to w8.1 is not something I see as solution.

Your a fighter Oliver that don't get discourage easily and it's a very good quality.

Your experiencing many unstable desktop environment issues and it takes me less then 1/10 of them to clean install Windows. The Blurry fonts is a Win Ten bug. Clean install 10240 would give you the same result. You would have to go in Regedit to set it properly again (It's Toshiba that should fix that, not you). There is no patch yet in your BIOS history related to Win Ten just like if Toshiba is not ready for Win Ten. It seems to be the case of many manufacturers that are working over time since more then a month.

You said that you need your computer to work. Is the meaning of work related to studies? You also said that none of the problem that you have were there under 8.1. Is it the case? Finally, your computer cost 2000$ in my country and for me it's clearly not acceptable to run it on one leg.

    so what is your suggestion?
if the blurry issue is a Win Ten bug, what is the solution right now of a clean install? should I not wait until it is fixed in new win 10 versions?
yes indeed theoritically a clen install sounds better. but my question. does it worth it right now?

but I don't see that as the main question which for me is:
if I stay as I'm now, will w10 patches and Toshiba patches solve the issue "whensoever"? I can perfectly remain that way until that day comes

For Ten it would come from Win Update, for Toshiba it would come from BIOS update. You didn't answer my 2 questions yet?

ok, for your answers. I'm not sure what you are referring to me as not answered questions. That's been the case it seems that I'll prefer to wait.
Any solution for the size of the tool bar? Do you have the same problem that is bigger?
