Hi everyone, i'm new here. I read that 21H2 is avaliable for download in ms preview channel and should be out to the
public soon. So anyone know what's the difference between win11 and 21H2 ?
Since I don't see an explicit answer to both parts of your question, here is my attempt to do so:

Windows 11 is a new version of Windows which tries to enforce some hardware security features which are entirely optional in Windows 10. It also implements some changes to the user interface.

Windows 10 21H2 is a minor update to Windows 10. It is not Windows 11 21H2.

The 21H2 suffix just indicates when their updates were released. Since both versions of Windows were released in the second half of 2021, both versions have the same suffix.

Windows 10 1903 with no Chrome and with Flash. Why? I am running 2004 with memory leak problem being caused by the Chrome update to Edge, and I can use VMware or Vbox ( or Hyper-V ) I guess to run other Operating systems within Windows 10 ( as long as the hardware is good enough ) so why bother.

I have Windows 11 running inside of VMware within Windows 10. Honestly I mean clap clap we got access to Linux applications but again I could use Linux install ( Virtually ) to gain access to the same stuff.

    .............

Microsoft is just doing business as usually getting morons to rebuy what they already own a third or forth time.

You remember Windows XP and the SP packs 1-4 ????
You remember Vista being shunned and Seven being praised ???
You remember that thing called Eight or 2016 or Metro ????

It is all the same, They took something, rebranded it, reprogrammed it and poof somebody order a hundred copies of hardware for their Non-for-profit
institute. Meanwhile some doctors office is still using Vista for that one program running in a unit they would rather not pay for a long long time.

The way I see it, nobody needs to run to Windows 11 unless they are somebody who follows the crowd.

Windows 11 has Snapchat pre-installed. A Chinese program collecting information people submit. Why do we need that???

You are probably right in a few circumstances but if fully true it would put me out of work as my clients would no longer need my support. To that end my 2-month-old Win11 Notebook is working just fine.

You see the problem we are creating ?

What is your line of work ?

It is how we have economy and people keep asking. "Why do I pay more Taxes ?" We pay more taxes so that non-for-profits ( anything that receives government funding ) could keep purchasing and repurchasing the same
machines instead of actually servicing these earlier machines.

Like we must say "We have the best of the best of the best of the best " mentality or "latest and greatest of the greatest and latest" mentalities.

Thus forcing everybody else to install, purchase, or buy a new machine all together. The security settings retaining to "WhyNotWindows11" could be bypassed. Just as "why should I pay an extra amount just to have HTTPS on my webpage? Just so Google will not blacklist my website for not having HTTPS ???

We are burning money into _______ just to keep jobs created from crashing.

I really do not see the point of it all ??? I remember when the news was like "Do we need keep downloading and installing SP packs for XP ??? and how everything had "XP" written on the end of it like how many things start having "HD" written on it right now.

I really don't see it as a problem but accept it as a change.

After I retired in late '94 just 2 months before turning 55 I was offered a part-time job in a computer store, a month later I was full-time and building computers starting with MS-DOS and Windows 3.1, been doing it ever since. Since my career was in service to the public it has done well for me working with clients who use computers, even when upgrading. Don't see many first-installs lately, everyone has a computer.

    Hi there

Newer OS's are "usually" more secure and can handle / make use of new instruction sets built in to newer CPU's. So even if very little changes on "the outside" there's often quite considerable changes on the inside that a normal user wouldn't be aware of.

Quite frankly I still prefer the "Look and feel" of XP especially with the Luna Black theme to any of the more recent GUI's -- but inside that OS would be as leaky as a sieve these days even if you could get it to work on modern hardware in "Native mode". The only way that OS can work on modern CPU's these days is to run it as a VM.

So "What's better" is really an irelevant question. What would be nice would be for Ms to allow a lot more sensible customising of the GUI - and please do let's have a sensible file explorer -- the current model looks so dated and tired I'd think even Queen Victoria would have found it old fashioned - had they had computers back then (QV - 1837-1901) !!

    Cheers

    1. Rebuy? My 7 license upgraded to 10 FREE.
My 7 license that turned into 10 FREE turned into 11 FREE.

    2. I'm sure the nonprofits can do the same.

    3. Some people use it. If you don't, we have this thing called uninstall.

Time to loosen or take off a few wraps of the tinfoil party hat and lay off the koolaid :)

    Roger Waters.
May i ask who/what is Roger Waters related to windows OS ? Anyway i'm on 20H2 or maybe going back to 20H1, minimum for
some games. I don't need features or superficial upgrade unless a huge upgrade like 128bit OS.
