I haven't - others have reported it being repeatedly offered. I'm wondering if it being offered for 2004 is related to the registry build number change.

Can't answer that. Change it back and run for a bit. Change it again, and see if it comes back.

2004 is pre-20H2. This Impact issue starts when the enablement for 20H2 is installed. I may not be understanding you correctly.

I'm wondering why after having made that registry change which changed the build number to 2004, when I'm running 20H2, I'm now being offered a Windows Update labelled as being targetted at 2004, not 20H2. Is there any possible correlation?

I know it changed to 19041, but may I ask where you are seeing 2004?

Just checked and no update available. KB4023057 installed was 13th Feb.
There are multiple versions of this KB. The 2021-03 version of KB4023057 was installed on my PC w/2004 on 2021.04.14 when I unpaused WU.

On one PC, I upgraded from 2004 to 20H2 earlier today after first updating to 2004 April CU, so no 20H2 data points from me other than that.

I just checked a VM of 19042.928. I have no history of this KB4023057 ever being installed. My history goes back to 05/11/2020. The Enablement package KB4562830 was installed on 12/09/2020. This VM has never had the tweak in this thread applied.

oh, on an update. I thought you meant on a WINVER or System Info screen. No, as I've posted, that KB is foreign to me.

It's one some are seeing that is repeated, and if you do general search for the KB, it's said to be something to do with preparing a PC for an upgrade. You will find some threads referring to it on tenforums.

My point being - to state this as clearly and dramatically as I can:

Does changing that build number mean I will be offered updates for 2004 and not for 20H2?
Given that this particular one is being offered, is my PC being deemed as on 2004, not 20H2, and therefore a candidate for a potential upgrade to 20H2?

I'm taking the view that I will revert this registry change. Thanks.

I cannot answer your question because I do not know how Microsoft sees it.
