@f14tomcat - guess what, I now see, as well as that update which prepares for an upgrade, I would have been offered a feature update to 20H2- which I'm already using.

Fortunately I have updates set to Notify, so hopefully the routine automatic WU scan this morning will clear that.

    I have:

and my registry - from yesterday evening- has

What is interesting is that this morning, startup impact is still working... maybe, just maybe, toggling that build number to 1 and back to 2 is enough?

And indeed the direct relation of this registry change and its impact on Windows Update can be seen in that after the automatic check this a.m. I'm back on track with 20H2:

So far- it seems toggling the registry value from 19042 to 19041, restarting, then reversing that change
    a. kicks startup impact into action (don't know if that's still really active though after reversion)
    b. avoids problems with Windows Update

Leaving it set to 19041 would seem to be the wrong thing to do.

If you take a screenshot of Startup, then restart the PC, then compare Startup measurement numbers to the screenshot - do the numbers actually change now that you reverted the registry key to 20H2?

    Dalchina and Steve...

I had set mine back to 19042 last night before shutdown, and this morning TM Impact shows old data, from the last startup I did last night with .reg set to 19041.

Just as I suspected. Thanks for confirming.

What really irks me more than anything is I've reported it, it's a known issue here by many, so it must be known in general. Yet MS doesn't even acknowledge it. Insider Dev works fine. All else is busted. Why, why why??????

Their top priority seems to be eye candy

Maybe even their only priority it seems to be?

Could be.. and a load of fixes in 21H1 coming... but not one for networking I could see... here's what may come in 21H2:

(just a screenshot from a video about 21H2 - possible icons at the bottom).

Those "lovely" icons are in Dev build now. It seems to be the major consensus in the Dev thread that they are a huge mistake. They don't open to preview content, they look like a 14 yr old's iPhone, and must go.

Just for info, was updated to 20H2 on 12 NOV 2020. I don't use third party apps to alter WU so at default. Since doing the registry fix I get no WU's showing as @dalchina's shows and the reg fix is still working ok.
