Folder icons don’t show previews of folder content

    OS: Win 10 Ent x64 build 21354.co_release.210402-1630

After upgrading from build 21322 via the Insider Preview Dev channel to this latest build, File Explorer (aka File Manager) no longer shows previews of folder content. I’m not a great fan of the new folder icons to start with (hey, if I want a MacOS look, I’d go with Apple, but I don’t!), though I can live with this additional eye-candy.

I do, however, very much object to the removal of the folder content preview. Pls see attached screenshots.

Is this an oversight by the development team, intentionally, accidentally, or what?

No matter what I tried, I couldn’t get the folder icon previews back to work/show.

Any help / suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks and cheers to ya' all.

Rant about it on the Feedback Hub!

I think it's a huge mistake and looks hideous!

Still can't find a solution to this issue. As has been said, this new icon pack looks rather "hideous", reminds me too much of that MacOS -eye-candy look, and on top of that has removed a rather useful functionality!

Note to the devs: Until this is resolved, I'll stick to build 21322.rs_prerelease.210220-1651 and pause / ignore future updates.

Totally agree not having content preview is a mistake and hopefully it will be fixed. I do like the new icon set and I always hated the minimalistic icon look since windows 8. My feeling is Windows 7 had a very nice interface and Microsoft should of built on it instead of throwing everything out the window for totally new UI that everyone hated. Eye candy is important... it's much more pleasant to look at nice images vs unpleasant ones during a long work day. Functionality with a pleasant interface is the way to go. It seems like a simple solution, why is it so hard to implement?
