Laptop keyboard disabled by failed Insider update

Current build Insider Preview Pro 21301 x64

Ever since the first Insider Preview build 21213 upgrade failed the first time the keyboard has been unusable on my laptop. 😢

It works on boot & in the BIOS but not after Windows has loaded. 😢

I have at least a dozen manual upgrades, roll backs with both 21213 & 21218 (plus another in between those) & NOTHING I do will get the keyboard usable again. 😢

In Device Manager it shows the keyboards not working & I will add a couple of screen captures in a few minutes from that laptop. 😕 I am using my phone to write the thread initially & I can only use my laptop by choosing the on board keyboard with myself mouse then use my mouse to select each individual letter!! 😲 Painstaking!! 😢

Oh! I have tried many divers both original for this laptop ss well as the latest ones. Still no usable keyboard .

Any assistance is urgently requested. 😀

    Thanks for any ideas. 😁

    Tried an USB/wireless keyboard?

Admittedly there appears something amiss, but it's all too easy to blame a Windows update. Consider that it might have been a coincidental technical breakdown with your device.

Boot from a Linux distro USB (Puppy or Mint) and test.

    Thanks for your quick reply.

I did try a Microsoft bluetooth keyboard in my initial driver changing & testing but it didn't work but cannot remember why at the moment. I am going to try it again shortly followed by a USB keyboard after that.

    Back soon...

Others' experiences might be better, but bluetooth probably not my first choice - I've found Windows 10 <> bluetooth input devices a bit flaky at the best of times. Might be still hard to tell whether it's Windows or your device. Wired or USB wireless keyboard the best.

Also still strongly suggest the Linux boot option to test your existing device keyboard/touchpad.

    Hiya mate.

Well it's11am here and I've spent the last 12 hours try I've been trying multiple keyboards both simple & complex ones. This has meant installing heaps of different drivers and apps buy none work. They show the same Device Manager errors as I showed in the images I attached here.

I cannot figure out what could be killing sllof the keyboard drivers!!

I don't have a linux boot disk as you suggested plus I've never played with lunix but I'll give it a try.

    Thanks for your assistance.

Since this is Insider, and not your daily, have you considered a blow away and complete re-install? You've got some cobwebs deep down inside.

Thanks to all that helped me with this problem.

I fixed it by downloading and installing Lenovo's latest touchpad/keyboard drivers.

?? You shouldn't have had to install drivers for the simple action of adding a keyboard/mouse ??

You right but I didn't add a keyboard or mouse! 😲 The keyboard is fixed to the laptop I've been using for 7 years & the mouse ive been using for 5 to 6 years & no other hardware changes. 😊
