Can I block Windows Insider Service from the Internet?

New build here, just finishing setting up. The firewall (ESET Internet Security) keeps reporting numerous "apps" and services trying to access some server or other. Some of these are not necessary to me and I block them from calling home, but with others I'm not sure. So here's the question:

This PC is supposed to be for work and so not at all on any Insider circle (not even a Microsoft account on the machine). Yet the Windows Insider Service (wisvc) keeps running and wants to access the Internet, although Services reports it not to be running. The problem however is typical to many other services - this service is performed by svchost.exe, which carries many other services as well. If I block it from the net, will I block all services together or just this one? How would ESET know which service is carried by svchost.exe?

The Windows Insider Program enables savvy users to run and test upcoming builds of the operating system before it is available to the general public.
This service is definitely an unnecessary one and should be disabled. You can Disable it from the Services.msc Menu
Here are other apps you don't need to run in the background.

Great, thanks. However, the part of the question was about blocking the service from accessing the internet. I realize that disabling the service takes care of the problem, however I would like to know what happens if I block a service from accessing the net - will I block the whole svchosts.exe (meaning all other services) or just the one?

Just the one. SVCHOSTS is just that, a host processe (many of them) to run and manage services. Blocking/disabling one service does not kill others. Only exception would be if they are co-dependent, which this one is not.
