Migrating insider W10 to new hardware

Can I move my insider copy of W10 Pro to new hardware? (replacement motherboard and CPU, changing from E6600 to Skylake i7 6700K)

If so, what procedure should I follow?

Using same MS account should just register new HW but you may have to start with new installation because of different HW and drivers for it.

There's still some debate about the transferability of Win10 from one device to another. Some folks claim that if you upgraded from an existing Retail license, you get a Win10 Retail license -- and that is transferrable to another device, in the same manner that Win8 licenses were transferrable. However, there is also the possibility that it won't activate and you will have to contact MS Support to get it activated.

Thanks, I've avoided upgrading my licenses of W7 and W8.1 for my current hardware just to make sure they are easier to transfer.

Last week my Motherboard died and I was unable to find the same as it is 5 years old.
So I bought a new Mobo, CPU and memory..
Microsoft is not clear at all. My HDD with my Insider account and W10 10240 activated with fast ring did not boot at all.
I made a clean install from ISO. Logging with the same previous MS insider account and windows is not activated.

This morning, I chat with MS Support, asking clear information. After 15 minutes of explanation, the only response I got is " You need to buy a new license".. I reply I never enter a key as it is Insider build since 9926, so I have no license.
The guy closed the ticket and disconnect.
So what. I wiped my HDD and I will use it to play with Linux....
What a pity to hear a so big company unable to respond at a basic question.

Not good news. Did you try 'slui 4' and a manual activation?

The Windows 10 upgrade consumes the base license. That is why the "Key already in use" message. This is what constitues a computer for purpose of registration as a Windows 10 Device: Motherboard/CPU/graphics card serial numbers. A change of motherboard is guaranteed to be "a new computer" for licensing purposes. You are going to have to install Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8 and activate before you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free again. Sorry.

If you have trouble re-activating your old OS because the key is locked into the Windows 10 upgrade you did, use phone activation and talk to an agent. Tell him you reverted from Windows 10 and see what happens. To get a live agent, don't respond to any of the automated voice prompts and then you will be transferred.

Machare, I've been running Windows 10 on my desktop and three laptops since October, so I guess you can. :) As long as you're an Insider, I guess it doesn't matter which machine you put it on.

He's asking about his Insider account, not an upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1.
