Insider Preview on a new motherboard

I have been in the IP program sinse it started. I don't remember how I came by that W10, probably for free. Unfortunately, a fault has developed with the motherboard and I have lost my IP W10, W10, W7 and Ubuntu. I'm mainly concerned with keeping the IP Windows 10, the others don't matter, and Ubuntu can be put back on any time.
I have just replaced the motherboard, processor and ram with a new low end AMD Athlon 3000G, an Asrock A320M-HDV AND 2 x 4Gb ram. Everything else works fine and the same Samsung 850 PRO 256 Gb ssd is being used.
W10 64 PRO has loaded in record time, but it is not activated. Will I have to buy a product key now?

I had to install the IP Fast Ring [now DEV] on a different computer already running Win10, went to Settings, Update and Security, and on left column bottom went into the Windows Insider Program, signed in and rejoined that computer to it. Of course, I did need to provide User name and Password.

Berton, you have installed new Windows IP on the computer that was already activated, tinmar has a new installation.

It would be possible, if you had a retail version of Windows 10 on the broken motherboard. Since it's almost impossible to get that info now, you'll probably have to buy a new license.

There was a thread about cheap Windows 10 licenses about a week ago.. will try to search later

The standard copy of W10 on that motherboard was upgraded from W8.1, which started off as W8 PRO, a boxed set of discs with the product key on a separate card. It was bought in PC World which was one of the biggest retailers in the UK.

If one has those discs and key card could just install Win8.x and it should activate then log into the IP site to rejoin. But Win8x computers [meaning the motherboard] usually had an embedded code Win10 can use. Custom computers didn't have that, mine didn't, while OEM computers do.

Since the boxed set of 32 and 64 bit dvd's of W8 does not mention OEM anywhere, I will try installing the 64 bit and see what happens. The product key was accepted early on in the installation, so there's hope for me yet. This particular boxed set is different from the cheap W8 discs used for upgrading W7 and XP way back when W8 was new.
I have just logged in to my Microsoft account successfully. The format is strange, I'd forgotten what the desktop for W8 is like. Windows is activated, I'm pleased to say.

Yes, Win8 and to some extent Win8.1 were more aimed at folks familiar with touch screens on things like SmartPhones and Tablets, caused quite a ruckus as seen in some forums. I see Win10 as a blend of Win8.1 and Win7, easy to get familiar with the longer one uses it.

The new load has decided that there are 123 updates available, I have started the process, but as I write this, the updates have failed. Maybe if I try them singly, or in smaller numbers, they might have a better chance.

Update: they have now downloaded, I have a fast connection of over 200 Mbits.
