I Miss The Early Days of Windows 10 and The Insider Program.

Was looking back at screenshots and posts of early Windows 10 builds, my favorites of those being 9926 and 10041.
Man how exciting it was to be an Insider back then.
There weren't new builds almost every week, and when there was a new build, it was generally packed with changes.
I miss the leaked screenshots of internal builds, and even leaks of the builds themselves (such as in January 2015 when
several builds were leaked at the same time...)
You didn't know what new features and changes would come next, I also miss Gabe Aul's tweets hinting the release of a
new Insider build -- Remember those?
Today -- Five years later -- I am still a Windows Insider, but recently testing the builds has become boring IMHO.
There are no significant changes between the updates.
I hope 21H1, AKA "Iron", which begins testing late next month brings tons of changes for us to see and test.
And for a little nostalgia... Here's the official Release Announcement for build 9926 which is still live in Microsoft's site:

LOL. I have to agree with you. I guess there are two schools of thought:

Some people want lots of new things to look forward to while other people wish that Microsoft would just focus attention on fixing issues for a while before rushing off to add a bunch of new features that often just end up getting deprecated in a couple of years anyway.

Maybe one major feature update a year and the other update for the year being focused on polish and addressing issues would be a good way to go.

I thought that is what MS did with 1903 with new features and 1909 was fixes. Am I remembering correctly or just dreamed it.

I hated that 3 year cycle and each new version was so bad it took 3 Months to fix the bugs. From what I have seen about the new 2004 bugs I will be back to waiting 3 Months for a stable version.

The Insider Programme is so BORING now.

MS have clearly run out of ideas event since before the days of "Dumb Down Dipstick Donata" who was into "deets" (whatever that was), and taco eating ninja cats, and she completely lost the plot.

I doubt there are any decent developers left on Windows 10 - all the quality staff will be on Azure stuff etc. , where the real money is made.

We just get garbage about emojis or new design of icons, or puke coloured fluent these days.

This, or just go back to one huge update each year. As it was previously.
Remember how 1607 was such a big departure from 1507 or 1511 in terms of design?
That is what I am talking about.

And please, no more boring insider builds almost every week... :/

I didn't want to use the word "Boring"... But I guess you are correct.
    Please come back Gabriel Aul...

The early stages of Windows 10 was bound to have more revolutionary changes in each release, it was a work in progress, and still evolving. Now it's been around long enough to be what any OS should be - Stable for the most part.
There are also fewer things to fix and most of the new hardware at present works with the OS.

The major issues has been the upgrades twice a year resulted in some corner cutting to get features ready for Prime time, so it was decided that 1903 would be the last of the twice a year updates, with 1909 being a fix update for 1903. this is I understand the new standard 2004 is an upgrade release, although it's not revolutionary, but evolutionaly, and unlike some previous upgrades works out of the box.

We may see occasional updates as drastic as some of the early releases, if new technology is required to be managed, but hopefully the OS will just settle down to do what it's designed to - allow you to use your programs to get work done (or play games)

I've seen and used every OS from microsoft from the DOS days - both consumer and industrial / business and the levelling out of new features is normal. The next Shock with windows 10 could well be a major one - the dropping of the 10 to produce "Windows" updated every spring to support new hardware needs, and tweaked each fall to smooth things out.

I use an OS all day every day but actually interact with it for a only few minutes - the best OS would be one you don't realise you are using it
