No longer do I want to "BE" an Insider.

    In FAQs
" 3: CAN I OPT OUT OF BEING AN INSIDER?
You can opt out of the Insider Program by stopping Insider builds. "

You register in website to join the program. The joining does not bring builds.

I never performed the additional step(s) in Windows that would result in the getting of builds.

How to disassociate from the program? To unregister. To un-join. To un-BE.

    Hello thename,

Joining the Windows Insider Program on the website is basically just registering at the site.

You're really not in the Insider program though until you set your computer to start getting Insider builds. If you haven't done this yet, then of course you will not get any builds.

Start or Stop Receiving Insider Preview Builds in Windows 10

With that said, you can scroll down to the very bottom of the Windows Insider Program website, and click on the Leave the Program link to unregister like below.

    Hello Josey,

It looks like you may not have stopped getting Insider builds in Windows 10 before you unregistered your account from the Windows Insider Program.

It may look like that but I unregistered first, so if I join it again and quit it again will that fix it? WU is the only place where this shows.

Well I re-registered in the WIP, accepted the terms, restarted My PC and now all is well.

This would be normal. It's just a matter if you wanted to completely stop getting Insider builds on a Windows 10 PC and/or unregister your Microsoft account with WIP.

If you only unregister with WIP, then your Windows 10 computer is still set up to get Insider builds, but you need to either fix the current account or assign a different account registered with WIP.

If you want both, then it's important to stop getting Insider builds on the Windows 10 computer(s) first, then unregister with WIP.

If you unregister your Microsoft account with WIP first without stopping builds in Windows 10, you would see this in Windows 10 like in Option 3 below.

How to Join Windows Insider Program to Register Account

If you stopped getting builds in Windows 10 first then unregistered your Microsoft account with WIP, then you would see this in Windows like in Option 1 below.

    "Seemples ...." alternative method:

simply restore any Windows image you had before signing up to insider

then you are "automatically" unjoined. !!!!

Otherwise if no backup image (why not ??? free macrium etc make this a simple task these days) simply install from an iso (MCT or whatever) any "non insider version" and install as a local option --i.e not with Ms sign in.

    Cheers
