Insiders vote for favorite 20H1 features - am I too old for this?
Having just read the "top 10 list" of favorite Windows features as voted for Insiders (received it in a long "insiders" email from Microsoft), I can't help noticing that I find most of those features completely useless to me. I can see that some of those features could be used for developers and developers are probably the most active Insiders - but that to me defeats the purpose of the Insider Ring - after all, Windows is a mass product, not specifically geared towards developers.
Apart from that - I don't use any cloud, I don't use search (I find it useless, since if I ever need to actually look for a file, it would be an image of a pdf document with a random filename with the content I only vaguely recall, so search won't help anyway), I don't reset my computer often enough to care about how it's done (literally less than once per a few years), I don't use Bluetooth on the PC (literally no such device here), I don't have a fingerprint scanner, I don't understand a difference between a PIN (a string of numbers) and a password (a string of letters and numbers), I use a phone to make phone calls (my PC doesn't even have a microphone), and I certainly don't care for a calculator to be always on top - I can count, thank you very much.
Now my question here - is this me getting old or there is something else going on ?

It's you getting old
.
Seriously, joking aside, everyone's needs vary. Some people only need very basic functionality in Windows. So long as it allows them to reliably run the handful of apps that they care about, that's all that matters. Some persons may have different needs. Then there are the power users who use a huge number of the features found in Windows and who jump at the opportunity to use any new features.
Even among people with simple needs, their needs may vary. Some may be interested in one or two specific features while another person may be interested in another set of features.
But that's the great thing about Windows - when taken as a whole, the features available cater to an extremely wide range of people with varied interests and needs.
Still, I agree that there are some features that not too many people use. Have you noticed how some features added not too long ago are being retired already?

Same here -- I can't think of any of the 10 that I WOULD use, now that I know about the list, since I have no use for any of them.
As for Cloud Recovery, my MR images are around 20GB, and I keep them on a external drive plugged into my desktop. I don't even want to think about how long it would take to download 20GB from the "cloud".

20GB is not that much. With proper broadband that won't take too long at all

Assuming you can actually get to it. Minor technicality, just thought I'd throw that out.

Define old. I'm 75 and I agree there is not much improvement for the average user. I got into Insiders because I was used to Testing in Linux Systems. Big disappointment. What they are doing here is a vague upgrade to an already bad system, when they could have just fixed the problems with Windows 7 or 8. They are not even moving towards a Windows 11, nothing new to show for all this work. If you were to look at my desktop you might think I am running windows 7 with the menu and many of the improvements over Windows 10. All in all I must agree with you.
