Release preview vs fast ring

I didn't read which version it is and installed release version. However I wanted the latest (not highest numbered) version. My fault.
Can I go back to Fast ring without reinstalling? Could I update from RP 19536 to eg. Fast 19041?

Which one is "newer" Windows version? Seems release preview has the highest version number (19536). However it is 19H2, not 20H1, right?
Will it give me new things Microsoft adds with Fast Ring? Or won't?

No that would be a downgrade. If you have Macrium Reflect you can restore and old release or if you still have not removed your former build you can go that route. The Fast Ring has 19536.1000, the slow ring has 19041.1.

Unfortunately it was about month ago and I don't ahve one anymore.

There is also a risk factor to be considered,

The fast and slow rings have a possibility of "breaking your system" The Fast Ring by design contains the latest changes to the operating system to be developed and therefore present a risk that one of these changes will cause your system to fail (the technical term being "Borked " ), the slow ring is a later form of the Fast ring, that has a number of fixes added to correct errors found by the testers of the fast ring.

It is not recommended that you install and run the fast or slow rings on a "Production System" or in a home scenario, your only system, and should always keep multiple backup layers if you are Beta testing software, which is essentially what the insider program is - Think of the fast ring as an Alpha release and the Slow release as a Beta release.

The Release Preview is a Last test release designed for System administrators to test the latest OS features on a semi live environment to check compatibility with hardware and other software. It is normally released a week or two before the official release date of the OS upgrade and is much less likely to Bork a system.

Although there is a risk Microsoft does try to minimise the it as much as possible so there are extensive "in House " tests prior to the release of any Insider release to outside testers.

I know. However I love to have newest things on my devices. That's why I have betas and alphas of all OSes and apps on my personal devices (cannot do it on work ones).
Of course I keep backups and make new ones at least once a week (mostly at Sundays).

The windows ten release preview is going strong, you need to sign up for it, like other options in the insider program. It also is not instant when you do sign up. (To stop people signing up a week before a new release, to jump the queue, and then dropping out.), there is a delay of a week or two before any changes to insider programs kicking in

So has brink stopped posting them in the News thread?

There is a section, (forum), that deals exclusively with the Insider program so most updates will be found there https://www.tenforums.com/windows-insider/

The last Release Preview was issued at the end of August/start of September, 2019, (I am on the Insider Release Preview), and the next is due in a few months when I am sure these will be reported either in News or the Insider forum
