Windows takes a very long time to boot after update - about 15 minutes

Windows takes a very long time to boot after 18975 update - about 15 minutes to the Desktop!

    CPU-Z shows CPU running at 3.2Ghz got 32GB RAM 2 x 2T SATA drives.

I've run SFC and all DISM commands probably 30 times each but neither find anything!

I even ran a repair install of this new version but no luck finding anything!

I've spent two days on this and found nothing that might be causing this.

    Any ideas please anyone!!

    Thanks.

Here is some info I have on how to debug slow boot problems.

Download and install the Windows ADK, which also contains the Windows Performance Toolkit.

    1. Open a Administrator Command Prompt.
    2. Type: cd "%programfiles(x86)%\Windows Kits\10\Windows Performance Toolkit"
    3. Type the following command to start recording the boot trace:
wpr -start GeneralProfile -start CPU -onoffscenario Boot -onoffresultspath c:\wpr -numiterations 1 -filemode
    4. The results should be in a .etl file under the C:\WPR.

You can also run this via the GUI:
    Start Menu
    ..Programs
    ....Windows Kits
    ......Windows Performance Toolkit
    ........Windows Performance Recorder

More good info here: How to collect a good boot trace on Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016 using WPRUI

See here for some hints on how to use the data: Analyzing a Slow Boot with Windows Performance Recorder & Analyzer

... and here: Windows Performance Analyzer step-by-step guide

There are one or two people here who are very good at analyzing boot traces but I can't remember names, sorry. Hopefully someone else can.

May I recommend an in-place upgrade using the official Windows 10 installer, which is still available from the Microsoft website?

You can use try the Windows 10 Updater, which will help you update to the latest version of Windows 10 and solve any issues of an outdated OS or hotfixes which have not been applied:
    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=799445

Or you can attempt an in-place repair using the official Installation Media.exe, can help you revert to a baseline version of Windows 10 while also still keeping all of your files without the need for a complete wipe and clean install of Windows 10:
    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=2265055

This should solve any and all issues with your current install while keeping all files and solving your boot time. Only some of your drivers and network settings may be reverted.

Sudden very slow boot times are often an indication that one of your drives is failing.

As a priority, back up critical data now.

Then check health of your disks.

Often, it can be as simple as one of the connecting cables is lose.

If you have a hardware issue, no amount of software changes will fix things.

So eliminating hardware as an issue should be your first diagnostic step.

Disk check- Crystal Diskinfo (free); Hard Disk Sentinel - includes SSDs - (full functional trial) - better.

Occasionally slow booting has resulted from an accumulation of temporary files. 3 or 4 instances on tenforums.
