It's not that hard, I use Windows backup and restore to create a image, might not be the best but it works for me and I go back and forth...
Steven,
When I did a fresh install of 18922 it just showed the standard old search, but this morning the bug with the missing search box started showing up again and I have no idea how and why.
So I upgraded the failing system to build 18932 and the problem disappeared, but the search dropdown looks a little different from the one they showed when they announced the new search experience.
Anyway the blog announcing build 18932 has the statement below:
"We fixed an issue resulting in some Insiders finding that their File Explorer search box was rendering in an unexpectedly small space and crashed when clicked."
They were saying the same thing about 18922, but it was not fixing the bug.
Let us know how 18932 works out for you.
My problem now is that I have the search box but not the search tools at the top...I can't erase my search history
Near view I don't see search tools, been going on for a while now
To start out I will say that up until now, the new search has worked as expected through every build since it came out.
I have also not used any 3rd party tools or anything to enable it, it just was, and it always worked.
This time around instead of returning to my 18922 image, I tried to just update 18362.10000 to 18932.1000.
This seemed to work with no issues until I went to use search and realized that I also had no search tools menu.
I found this to be very strange, since it had always worked before, and was working fine on the install I upgraded from.
Today I went ahead and Imaged back to my fast 18922 install and then updated it to 18932 from Windows Update.
Doing it this way my search is now once again performing properly as expected with the menu and such working again.
Rather bizarre behavior with no real rhyme or reason as to what is breaking it in some cases and not others.
peace
