Do you know how to revert back to the prior insider build after 10 days have elapsed (i.e. without using the built in method in windows recovery settings)?
I think I've done this before:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
Yup .. the only way is to download the last build iso via uup dump or wait for another build... For the future before updating make a image of your PC so your u can always go back...especially being an insider with bugs everywhere it's always good to have a image working properly to go back to... I have a image going back and when the next update comes out I know I can update and go back with my image of something like this happens again...I went back to 18898 before this issue started happening and untul it's fixed I'm not updating lol
gotcha, would restore point before update work as an image backup?
Now considering you don't have any backup, it's either u download a iso re install and image back up or you image back up what u have and then wait for the next build and if the search feature is fixed u back up the new build and when ever theirs a issue u go back to the build u just backed up ... In uup dump build 18898 is the build before the issue started happening
If I create a restore point in the future on my current build, would I be able to use said restore point after updating to the newest insider build to revert back to the prior build instead of reverting via an image backup?
Image back ups back up the complete c: bringing it exactly where it waa, restore points are just restores before a update was done... I would do a image. Considering your in a insiser program.. theirs always a build that will have numerous bugs that youll want to go back to previous build and wait for the next one...a restore point is not a os backup it's just a time in place where the os was running fine. Forget restore points
Let me give u a example... If u do a image of build 18912 ..... You can always go back to it...if u do a restore point it's just gonna restore you to when a software was changed in your machine or a cumulative update was done, it won't restore the os version
