How to remove non existent CD drive in Windows 10

I have been using Windows 10 Insider Preview (Slow) Build 18362 (19H1) for the last three days. After it was installed a non existent CD drive appeared in the File Explorer. This non existed drive does not appear in Disk Management, Device Manager and anywhere else except the File Explorer. I tried to delete but I failed. On exploring the Net I found it to be a common problem with many but couldn't locate any reliable method to delete it.

Is there a tried, tested and safe method to get rid of this ghost CD drive? Thanks in advance for any help.

Managestorage click on disk managementConduct a right-click on a ghost drive and choose the option “Change Drive Letters and Paths“.Finally, to do away with the drive letter, click Remove button on the dialog. However, you can also do any of the following as per need.

set the following system environment variable:
    devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices 1

go to device manager (this PC -> manage -> device manager)
in the view menu, check "show hidden devices"
find the CD drive in device manager, right click on it and select "uninstall device"
