Downloads Folder wiped with new build 18362.1

I'm in the FAST ring and completed a update not a clean install and my "downloads folder" was wiped clean.

Download and upgrade install went quickly with no problems. Seems faster this time.

Did you do a disk clean up after the upgrade? We've all had to be careful not to wipe our Downloads folder since it was added to Disk Clean up in 1809.

Yep, that and if you have compress your OS drive ticked in C Properties, it will also show up in Disk Cleanup.

Never, Ever, Ever, compress your OS drive, or any other drive.

I just use a Live run of Zorin OS 12 to wipe out the windows.old folder, so much faster.

Then gain back the 450 MB Recovery with Partition Wizard, or your favorite method.

To me that is Microsoft's mistake. NO User folders should be listed in Disk Cleanup!!!!

    Hi,
    Download to somewhere else.
Standalone stuff like hwinfo/ coretemp/... I would usually download it to videos seeing I don't have any videos but documents... will work too it's just a personal folder.

Downloads really isn't a personal folder it's just a favorite and is isolated from the user folder or account in a weird way security wise so really it's a temp holding place until the object is scanned/ installed...

See if you can pull your Downloads from a backup.

I submitted a feedback for this. There are probably others but nothing popped up:
Upvote: Remove downloads folder from Disk Cleanup
