InsiderBuild 18334.19h1 will not allow me to delete files in Explorer.

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18334.19h1 x64 Pro will not allow me to delete files in Explorer.

I am using Build 18334.19h1 x64 Pro and only today when I tried to delete a couple of TV episode videos from my USB drive! I right click on the file then select Delete and that dialogue box disappears and nothing happens i.e. the files do NOT delete. I even tried to delete them from an Administrator Command prompt window in that folder but the same thing happens!! Very frustrating!
Oh, and Windows refuses me trying to take ownership of those files.
A wierd problem that I have never seen before in any Windows and I been using it for some 30 years!
Shawn Brink may have a quick solution..I hope Shawn!
    Thanks.

PS: I am going to try this after I've rebooted in Safe Mode and see if that makes any difference then report back.

Hey out there, I can second that problem and it's not just USB drives, it's any drive and it's definitely media files, it's like Windows is keeping them to watch later or something. Reboots or dismounts only partialy work.
So, if anybody has a regedit solution, I'm all eyes ;-)

Quick Update: It's lots of explorer.exe open handles on the files in question that stops us from deleting/moving those files. Up to now I have managed to delete the files, but with extensive help of a3rd party "Find handles or DLLs" editor and delete the open handles TWICE in the process, first after the delete command when nothing happens, and second time after a delete confirmation.
Way to go, M$, keep us busy by issuing messy and irresponsible explorer.exe. Do you want us to test the builds or simply delete them and go back to the previous "stable", yet buggy 1809 build ?

A workaround for moving them is zipping them first.

To delete, I use a free tool called "Lockhunter".

The problem seems to be with .mkv files.

    Thanks, Harry.
Ineed your tool proposal is the one-in-all workaround for managing .mkv files.
Many people reported this, so I hope M$ will fix this in the next release.
My fear is that they will leave us "wanting" until the final release ....

I would say better to report it on Feedback as well as on forums.

It is marked as "known issue" in latest skip build.

Workaround is deleting them in command prompt:

original post in fast ring thread

Command Prompt, DEL command with force switch has no issues in deleting MKV files:

    del /f FileName.mkv
Command Prompt does not have to be elevated when run from a local admin account. A folder with MKV files will be deleted with following command:

    rd /s /q Path\FolderName

Thank you for the info, Andre.

It is useful to have as many workarounds as possible, yes, but I prefer those at least close to the same level as the current OS, otherwise the PCDOS OS would be interesting once again...
Besides, as pretty as the DEL command is, I would not venture with this when moving folders full of such unfortunatelly locked MKV files ...

I'm sure it will be solved in next build (or two...). You can always boot in production system and mess with mkv files there
