How long will "Insider Progam" run? and Why different edition numbers?

Desktop: Asus mob Asus Maximus V Gene with Intel 3570k, Nivida GTX660, 16 gb ram

Triple boot system:

Disk 0: SSD with Win 7 HP 64 bit. Fully licensed
Disk 1: SSD with 8.1 PRO. Fully licensed
Disk 2: SSD with Win 10 Pro.(with all current updates)

Question: Why the different edition numbers between DISM /Get-Currentedition > 10.0.10240.384 and Msinfo32.exe > "Hdwe. Abstraction Layer Version = 10.0.10240.16392?

Question: How long will the "Insider Program" run? Will/can my edition of Win 10 pro be converted to a fully licensed OS at some future point without upgrading my Win 8.1 pro?

Remark: If the above answer is no, then I plan on Updating my Win 8.1 Pro to Win 10 pro. I don't want to do this for awhile as I don't feel that Win 10 build 10.0.10240 is fully ready for prime time and I would like to stay in the "Insider Program". I would like to keep all 3 OS's, however as I understand you have to go the "Upgrade" route to be legit thus loosing my Win 8.1 pro in the process. I do not wish to upgrade my Win 7 as long as I can as Win 7 is it is my work horse and everything works.

As to the first -- no one really knows and MS has not been forthcoming on this. It would be nice if it runs through the release of Threshold, but, that's not been confirmed.

As to the second -- no. Insider builds can not be converted to Retail/OEM builds. Comments on other threads citing MS remarks about this indicate that when you leave the Insider program, your current build will remain but eventually expire. The only way to get a working Win10 after that is to upgrade from a licensed version of Win7/8/8.1 or (if available by then), purchase a copy of Win10 Retail/OEM.

I believe 10240 is the final release and it has been released as the RTM. Staying in as a insider will automatically convert to win 10 with product code.

Build 10240 is only the RTM release, and since MS has stated that Win10 is a "perpetual beta", there will be newer builds down the road. So basically, there is not, and there is not going to be, any "final" release of Win10.

As to conversion of Insider build to Retail or OEM -- NO. The Insider is a testing program, not a way to get a free version of the released product.
